Hi all,
Happy new owner of a SE TDi 110 with a question on MPG. I know the true answer is how long's a piece of string but here goes.
I bought the car 2 weeks ago with a brand new MOT and two advisories - slight exhaust leak, and misting from the front shocks. As I've learned the hard way, my first trip was to my friendly tyre people to get the tracking checked, where I discovered the "slight leak" was a dotted line of holes all the way round just behind the cat like a tear-off slip. Couldn't do it immediately so long story short a full tank was used before it was done. Also the temp gauge is not working at all, which will be done hopefully this week (I've been reading so I know to get the green one).
So the car has done 530 miles (of which about 300 motorway) and I put in £53 to top it back up.
Question is - does this seem about right for the car, allowing for the negative effect of those two problems?
Put another way - how accurate are the official MPG figures of 62 for a long trip and 54 average general driving?
Obviously I will soon find out how much better it is with both issues done but wanted to put the question out there in advance. Thanks.
ps I did say if I got the full MPG out of the first tankful I don't deserve the car
