More beeps this morning and flashing from the car....one to tell me it was cold - dur. and the next 3 followed by flashing coolant light to tell me the coolant was too cold? Don't understand that one myself but got me worried so that i had to find the manual

Yeah I had that again this morning. My coolant isn't low, it's dead on center of the marks. It only happens when it's very cold for me, and goes if you turn off and on again. There has been a few posts about this in the last couple of weeks and it seems that the header tank only costs £10-£15 which replaces the sensor. I'm not sure if that fixes the problem yet but I might try and get mine done to see.

Well it ses in the manual it is just a warning that the coolant is too cold so i assume not recommended to drive of immediatly and let it tick over for a few minutes instead?

this has happened to 10+ people this week i think - its the cold weather. Some of us (me included) have booked the car into SEAT to get it looked at (hell thats what a warranty is for) and mine specifically has been diagnosed as coolant temp sensor (AGAIN - already been replaced once this year) but they need to check it over.
If you check your coolant level and all is ok and it beeps, once the car has warmed up I stop the engine and restart, and the problem doesnt reappear until the car has been sitting overnight again.
Bad design in my opinion - or a very particular component that cannot take the extreme weather it should be able to handle.

The cold weather has also shown problems in my boot doorhandle/lock (again) and now some creaking rear suspension - perhaps these cars should only be used in the sahara?

When I checked mine from last Saturday's beep it was down on coolant and was at the sensor level.....topped it up and checked every day in the morning and level has not changed since ...

surely a coolant drop in level is not good? I thought coolant would never drop unless there was a leak or something... or am i mistaken?

Guys there are tonnes of threads on this subject, and the fault lies with the expansion tank.

Its the most common SEAT fault as far as im aware! When i had mine replaced last winter the dealer had already done 10+ that week!

It needs replacing under warranty and it will definitely solve the problem! If not under warranty it will cost you around £15 to put right! I had this problem last winter and after a new expansion tank was fitted i had no more cold morning beeps :funk:

i dont stand for that personally - i demand that they do something about it - admittedly i get on well with my dealers and they know i have had problems before so will probably change it again.
Admittedly with this issue its only gonna happen when the car is cold - which it aint gonna be if i have to drive to the dealers. I cant keep going backwards and forwards.

Me too, but I didn’t take it in last time. So by the time the car had been driven there, ignition turned off, found the service manager, came back outside, the problems not there. And it doesn’t log the fault in the ECU

if it thinks the sensor is faulty is does log it as an error something along the line of "coolant sensor open or short circuit"
However, this isnt considered an error as its more of a warning. At least thats how i see it. Its poor design as i said before - they need to do something about it.

Basically i know they are gonna check the error log and find nothing - so i am just going to argue that it is faulty otherwise it wouldnt be beeping/flashing!

Cheers for that. I had been told in a previous thread that it didn’t log anything. Well being for warned is to be for armed. Let’s see what they have to say on Monday. Luckily I‘ve got the week off work.

yeh. good luck. Wish me luck too - i also have to go in and show them my jammed bootlock that will magically unjam itself on the day of inspection.
Oh, and the creaky suspension that will stop creaking :(

ok heres a question that should really be put on all the threads of the same problem (about 5 of them)

For those of you that have had it changed recently (last yr or so)- has this cured the problem indefinately? Ie - is there a design change that they have made to stop this happening again? I dont want to be having to get it changed once a year - or have to put up with the annoying beeps/warnings every winter when it gets cold - its ridiculous.

Mine was changed approx a year ago - in fact almost to the day. Isnt there something that can be done about it? Perhaps changing the header tank for an aftermarket one like robdon did? I dunno...
