MK4 speaker wiring

Hi

Im a long term lurker but only got around to posting. The front speakers in my mk4 Ibiza are on there way to speaker heaven.

Ive searched through the forums but i've got a few questions before i make the plunge. Im hoping to do it in an afternoon so i'm trying to make sure i don't come across any nasty surprises when i take the door panel off.

1. which of these sound deadening stuff do i need. loads of people recommend dynamat but this seams a lot cheaper?

http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/skinz-reference-damping-p-5481.html

http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/second-skin-damplifier-pack-p-4854.html

and which of those would be better and how much would i need? or am i better purchasing some proper dynamat(if so which version)?

2 My knowledge of ice is fairly limited. I was going to go for a set of components. From what i can gather (and what i think im hearing) Theres a mid and a tweeter in each door already. What i cant seam to find out is how they are wired up. Is there a cross over already in there? or are they just daisy chained of one another?

Am i going to be able to fit the crossover and the new tweeters into the setup using the existing wiring?

Those of you with crossovers were did you put them? Is there much space behind the door card?

Am i going to need any adapters to connect the speakers together?

And finally are there any recommendations for components? I had been looking at these

http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/dynamics-sd62-p-5523.html

Would these be ok or does any one have a recommendation for any others? (£70 is my upper limit)

Sorry for the number of questions and thanks in advance for any advice.

Richard

Try the speakers in the door without dynamat first, may not be entirely necessary. i havent any in and theres no reverberation or anything. I would definitely get a piece of chair foam from dunelm or somewhere though and tape foam around everything, the wires are far more annoying when they vibrate.
Theres no nasty surprises waiting for you behind the card, except maybe from the rivets. and with my speakers i had to file off a standoff on the speaker grille cos it stuck out loads with the taller speakers.
All i did was disconnect the tweeter and splice into the existing wires at the back of the plug and heatshrink/insulate it all up so no crossed signals, then feed into the crossovers and the alpines from there.
I have some alpine TypeRs and the crossovers are about 1x4 inches, there was plenty of room for them even when packed with another inch all round of foam.
While you have the cards off pack the window winder motors in foam too, they rattle like buggery
