I would like to install a new headunit (currently Alana) in my Ibiza FR over christmas but dont want to lose functionality in my steering wheel controls or 'Aux' input (next to the handbrake lever). could anyone recommend a setup which will allow me to change the headunit without losing these factory installed controls.

I would really like to know about this as well, i am thinking of changing the standard alana headunit for an aftermarket DVD one, but i don't want to loose the steering controls or the AUX input, any one had any experiance with this, or pass any advice on?

check FAQ's for adaptor :D

As for the Aux input, this should be picked up as long as your new hu can control this.

depending on which unit you are looking at upgrading to aftermarket wise you will be able to keep your steering wheels controls BUT i am not sure on the adapter i think you would loose it

you can get adapters for seats special order from halfords (work there) jvc alpine kenwood and sony adapters i think works out about £50ish for the wiring so it aint cheap...

hope this helped

Hi mate, you need a connects2 adapter. This will allow your new head unit to work with your steering wheel controls. I've been told this by Car Auido Centre Manchester and trust me, these guys know what they're talking about! I've just had a Sony MEXBT2700 head unit fitted by them and I'm just waiting for the adapter to arrive (should be Monday) and then I'm straight back to get that fitted! They're about £40. Your probably best ringing them before you buy the adapter, just to check it will work!

Hope this helps.

Go to the Connects2 website for more info.
