so have got the head unit constant live and switched live running from the constant live of the car, and have no auto unlock. really need to sort it but it's one of those things i've now learnt to live with.

Thanks for getting back to me on this! Are u able to tell me how to get a switch live from the constant live? The only other option I have got is to fit a small switch into the cubby whole on the 2nd din! But if I could get away from doing that and get it turning on and off its self that would be a massive boost!

What do need and how do you do that?

I’m living with it too only thing I’m worried bout is someone ripping my interior door handle off when they try to get out! lol Have to quickly hit the button on the inside! As long as it still locks when I drive away I’m happy!  All I need now is to get this stereo in! Having another bash at it tomorrow! Hands have just heeled from the last time! lol

Sorry to drag up an old thread. I have the exact problem described by Russ_TDi and Cupraajy but lived with it since before this thread started.

March 2008 I refitted a Pioneer head unit (seems to be the main source of problems here) that came with the car as it lost its settings every time. There is no switched live in my cupra stereo loom, so both switched and live pioneer cables are going into battery live. When connecting the locking activated and since I have had no auto unlocking of my doors when turning the engine off.

I have lived with this for 10 months (pressing the unlock buttton or double pump the lever to get out) however I just got the car serviced and it turns out the car is showing a fault on the central locking circuit that the Seat dealer cannot find, they want me to book it in for a day to get it sorted £££!! :-o

Did anyone actually find a solution to this other than fitting a rocker switch?? Or can anyone tell me what colour the switched live wire is in the Seat stereo loom? It doesn't show with a circuit tester on mine.

I am sure this is the reason why my battery died over winter, constant trickle drain on the battery from the stereo. 3 - 4 days and the starter wouldn't turn the cupra derv over.

Sorted :D

Found a discussion between Chemical Al and Ants_the_blade (which fuse for my stereo?) which solved things for me.

Anyone out there having issues with stereo switched feed and doors auto unlocking when pulling ignition key out. Have a look at fuse 10, small 5 Amp one. The wire is very fine and mine looked ok but it had blown. I replaced it with a new one from halfords and auto unlocking and ignition switched stereo are working once again. Very happy with my £2 purchase!!

BTW on my stereo I have the wires switched over yellow to red and red to yellow :p

Tamworth, Staffs
Marcus tapped into a constant live but fixed the little switch in for me.
:p

I vaguely remember on mine I have linked the permanent and the switched live on the cars harness as I couldnt get my stereo to keep its settings etc even with the two swapped over like people above have said.

So if you look at it I now have two permanent lives because the power will feed back up the switched ignition to wherever else it goes, and my stereo is turned on by the ignition (no idea how btw), it keeps its settings and my doors unlock. Hope that helps.
