Thought i would start a post to show the progress my Ibiza has made.
The project was all going to plan and nearly finished, when the engine blew and caught fire. So have started to remove the engine and give it a clean ready for the new engine and turbo. Some pictures of the progress so far.

MY BEST MOD: A FIRE EXTINGUISHER. IF YOU AINT GOT ONE. . . GET ONE TODAY

The engine has a big hole in the block and cracked down through the sump. It emptied the oil and fuel (by the flames !) on to the exhaust and surrounding area, catching it alight. Surprising how quick flames started licking out.

UPDATE

Decided to get to work over the weekend and remove the engine and gearbox. With the help of my mate (thanks !) and few late nights it was out.

i take it the engine isnt standard either judging by the red rocker cover and the seat sport inlet mani?
Good luck in getting it back up and running though :)

Mate - that is a SEAT Cupra championship engine out of one of the LEON Supercopas...

Did you know that?

Non standard ECU/Mapping as they ran without a MAF and, from memory, "loads of other stuff", including antilag I think.

I suppose it should be/might be possible to make it run with standard sensors

Dunno - not that much is known about what's REALLY inside them, I can theorise that they have either standard internals, or super tricked up conrods and pistons...

Problem is, like I said, nobody really knows what's inside.

Just look at the blanked off DV outlet (couldn't look in the charge pipe to see if it has baffles, could you?), bolt down coilpacks, lockwired everything and scrutineering tags, extra MAP sensor on the inlet, inlet manifold (is that flowed?), different FPR.

It might have different injectors, there appears to be an extra take-off on the LHS of the charge pipe, I wonder what the turbo is...

Where did you get it?
