mk3 head unit options, android and satnav

Can anyone tell me what my options are with a 2014 or 2015 head unit
autotrader...../classified/advert/201812193362636

or the 2015 car..... ( 2015 is another 3 hours drive, so i'd only be planning to visit once and buy it the same day.)

Both cars say they have satnav but I'd like to connect the head units to my Android. I also don't want to be forced to pay for automatic updates ever six months.
Am I correct in assuming that because these are old I would have to replace the whole thing with a generic headunit system from ebay? but then loose whatever functions the leon has inside it to monitor the car?


I'm in london, the wife only wants black, and wants all the gizmo her driving instructor had (in his new car), and the budget is 10k

They didn't start fitting head units compatible with android until late on in 2015. Any chance of asking who ever your purchasing it from if there's an option on the head units menu for full link. If it's there it'll work with android and apple but will more then likely need activating at a price of £199 from Stealers.

Just looked at advert for 2015 model it's a 65 like mine so I reckon there's good chance it'll have it but no harm in asking. Definitely rule it out on anything pre 2015.

Mine is a 65 plate, but is mib1

Yea it has to be from may onwards I believe. Mine was registered October 2015. Does yours have DAB radio?

Its a great head unit but I did not buy it for these two reasons (found in the features and specifications section)

Not compatible with SEAT sound system. We are not able to retain the traffic sign recognition. A few other functions or settings are retained but may be controlled in a different fashion.
