MK2 door card removal

I've only found door card removal guides for mk3 and mk4, but what about mk2? There's something wrong with the windows on the driver's side, can't get them open, and I need to get the door card off, in order to take a look at it.

Well I got the card half-off, the thing I'm not sure about is how I get the window-opener-thingy (don't know the english word for it) off. The rest I got. Summer's coming, so you can't drive around with the windows shut, can you? ;)

if i remember correctly, open your door.

then the inside handle, pull it as though you are opening the car again, and look inside where the handle sits flush and there should be a screw, once u get that off that means u can get into the outter plaster and its just another couple o screws and it will come off easily.

took me about 10 mins to get the door card off from scratch.
do you not have a haynes manual? if not i suggest you get one

So there are some screws inside the card? Will have a look at it.

Don't have a manual, the importer in Finland only has it in English, not Finnish or Swedish. But I've been thinking of getting one anyway, I guess it could teach me something.

It goes a little something like this:

  1. Unscrew the door locking knob
  2. Prise the plastic surround around the handle away
  3. Undo the two big and one small screws from behind the surround
  4. Push a screwdriver behind the window winder handle in line with the knob to release it from the door
  5. Use a wide flat-bladed screwdriver between the door and the door card to "unpop" the trim clips
  6. Remove the door card
  7. Peel back the plastic sheet to get to the internals of the door

The winder isn't all that intuative but it's pretty obvious how it works once you've done it...
