Hi all,

hoping to get some advice with the problems I'm having with my 2011 Mk2 Leon 1.6 TDI

The problems started a few days ago with no warning signs beforehand. Traveling on the motorway the other day when suddenly a plume of white smoke came out the exhaust and a considerable loss of power and a rough/rattly engine. AA came out, diagnosed that my turbo had gone and towed me home. I've since had the turbo replaced but the problem remains. The mechanic I used seems to think it could be down to a faulty injector.

The symptoms are:
White smoke under load/acceleration. No problems when redlining the revs or idling, no problems pootling along at 30-50mph on a straight road. But if I'm accelerating or going uphill the smoke comes out, with the smell of diesel, and the engine becomes a bit rough. There isn't any foam in the oil. The coolant level hasn't changed. I tried dumping a bottle of fuel injector cleaner in the tank, and the smoke eventually changed from a white to a blu-ish white smoke, which to me indicated that it is a problem relating to unburnt fuel, although I'm no mechanic.

I have got it booked in a VAG specialist in over a weeks time, but I'm looking at atleast £400 to diagnose/remove injectors/test injectors/refit injectors, before I've even bought any replacement injectors, and the injectors are £300ish a pop aswell. And I'm already down £500 for the replacement turbo. So if anybody here has any ideas or suggestions please let me know.

Many thanks

most likely this be an injector problem.

when the turbo had gone, did this damage the turbo in any way? like shrapnels gone through the pick up pipe and into the sump? or caught it in time and got it replaced.

nowadays you can buy rebuilt injector/s and not as much costly against buying a new one

surely the VAG specialist cant check on VCDS and check injector readings unless it really has to be diagnosed by removing.

best of luck, hope it gets sorted
