mk1 non turbo leon probs!!

Well had my lovely leon near a year now and when i first got it the revs sorta jumped up and down abit so i decieded to get the thing serviced and the mechanic showed me the fuel filter and it was like black crap glooping out of it and he said thats whats been causing the rough idle! but since the service the car started to cut out when i turned the steering wheel when not moving so again back down to mechanics and he identified a sensor on the power steering that had gone faulty so ok fixed that and the car still cuts out sumtimes when slowing down to take a corner or wen jus finsihed reversing??? also wen the car is warm and ya turn it off and go to start it again straight away she wont spark first time takes 2 or 3 times!! just to let ya know its the 1.6 8v engine any help or advice would be grand lads cheers!!

the black stuff in your fuel is bad, what did he think it was? oil?

I did a search for you and found the following... pop '1.6 cutting out' into the search box


ECU Control Relay

About £11 from VW/Seat

It's the one on the fuse board (under steering wheel) with '30' on the top

Had exactly the same problem on my old 1.6 s

well wen he removed the fuel filter it was rotten like he said dat could have been my problem but i fink he jus put it down to dirty fuel used in the motor so should i start changin bits and bobs or pour alod of engine cleaning additive in my fuel from now on??

i would personally advise shelll v-power. its proven to clean inside your motor... and in theory makes it faster

cheers pall the car is in mint condition like 8years old 59,000 miles a lady owner and a doctor from new soo i has to be summit silly like cant see it being through miss treatment of the car ya know

would a local car parts dealer do this fuse thing or would it have to be a specialist part
