So in other words your car has only ever worked off actuator pressure and your 'N75/boost control' actually doesnt do anything.

unfortunately since the turbo has been fitted it would seem that way if the actuator is being the restrictive part here:confused:

I couldn't really say for sure, although........from the tests I did the other night with it having unlimited boost with the N75 unplugged then it would back up what you have said:cry:

who is at fault, I dont know, but no point in pointing the finger as nothing will come of it, and best to just work towards getting the issue resolved now:)

My conclusion too, but surely any tuner worth their salt would have spotted that one.....

unfortunately Dave, I cannot give you the answer on that one and this task and troubleshooting was within P-Torque's remit, which unfortunately was not done

why? I dont know, but luckily, thanks to you guys, it has enabled me to get this far in diagnosing the probable issue here

When you did the two tests the other night jamie. One with the N75 electronically unplugged and the other with the vac line to the actuator blocked off was there any difference between the results at all?

when I called CR Turbo's they stated they typically set this around 1 - 1.1bar, which would be right as the car is making 1.1bar at present

this further confirms what the actuator is currently set at

I dont think I will have time to do this until Friday now as I am busy with other commitments, work, family etc, and Friday it will be done pending weather, because if its a storm outside again then I sure wont be out there

The operating psi of the actuator does not indicate the output of the turbo, its just the control side of things.

He means it about right as thats all its making when the tests were done and it does indicate the output of the turbo when there is no control over it as it is the only thing holding the wastegate shut.

Shouldnt be. N75 electronically unplugged should give you actuator pressure which is 1.1bar as CR turbos said. With no control over the actuator and it blanked off it should have no control and boost as much as your turbo can which is why you needed to be careful. Think the problem is it cant make more than the actuator pressure not what the actuator tension is set at. Bill will have some ideas Im sure.

I think the best thing to do now, is just wait until I can carry out the adjusting of the actuator and see what happens

So you are definately saying that you cannot achieve more than 1.1bar even if the actuator pipe is blocked off?

In this state did the boost change at all? Did you get any whistling as if the pressure was trying to push the wastegate flapper open?

My vf34 only has an actuator pressure of 0.55bar. With the pipe blocked off it can boost all the way up to 2bar.

Need to get a pump on there to work out static pressure and see when it starts opening.

Weird.

to be honest I am getting fed up with this whole thing now and getting really pi$$ed off with it

I dont even begin to share or know as much technical know how as you guys and am really struggling with this, a learning curve I guess but a frustrating one to say the least

the next step I can only see if to adjust the actuator, if this still does not solve the issue, then its a piping or routing issue of some sort that is causing the restriction

failing that, I dont know where to go next. Right now I know you guys are helping me, but saying one thing on a forum and for me to carry out with my lack of technical know how is some what difficult to say the least

I have not asked any tuners yet to look at this as well, but that is when the £££'s start to rack up, but will only be my option left if the actuator adjusting makes no difference

sorry for some obvious questions, but to you guys its simple stuff, but to me its not

I have now invested a lot of time, effort and money into this car and its still not operating right, and I am now pretty much at a loose end :(

I may not be popular saying this but here goes;-

Stop tinkering with the things you don't understand and take the car to a specialist before you do damage to the car.

Yes it will cost a few pounds but hell it could cost an awfull lot more if you break something / blow something.

I don't understand some of what has been posted in this thread or why people are suggesting it......but I do understand when it's time to hand over the keys to the experts

why not start with the people who mapped the car if it's not right?.....I understand travel is involved and hassle but do yourself a favour and get some expert help now.

Jamie there may be no point adjusting your actuator as there seems to be nothing controlling your boost. You need to check it operates properly then work out why nothing controls it. Adjusting the pretension on the actuator will change your boost level but not fix the problem.

no, both exactly the same.......

but that in tself makes no sense.
nothing connected to actuator, which is one of the tests advised, would result in uncontrolled boost as the wastegate can never open, unless its blown open.

(IF) actuator is a 1bar version then it will start to open at 1bar.

seperate things these two above.
Bleeding out pressure to the actuator by MBC or N75 or whatever will raise this 1bar level to the leak+1bar level.

If the car was in front of me I would attach my mityvac pump to the actuator, pump it up to confirm its opening pressure and that it opens and closes properly.

Next would be confirming your N75 is in fact plumbed in the right way round ( ) as wrong way it only works @ actuator pressure! Been there seen that and done that. It happens.
