Mini cooper S on M5

i was on the M5 today in my car with a friend (shifty-shifty) and had a full tank of fuel, in the middle lane when a cooper S drove past slowly and a 17 yo looking nobber driving.
He looked across and gave a smug grin then put his foot down so i pulled out behing him and kept exactly the same distance away from him up to 120 then we had to slow down for other cars, when it was clear again the same thing hapend he couldent get away ATALL,
Then we both turned off and he nailed it but at the same time i saw a cop car so just stade to the speed limit as he drove off.

Now my quetion is what is the spec of the cooper S and waight?
Did i do well against it or bad?
I know its a 1.6 supercharged but thats it.

yeah me to, that is odd as my car was VAG-COMed the other day and all is fine, anless he had mods aswell? i do think he started to run out of steem when we met the other cars, and mine was still pulling fine

I agree they must be quicker than i thought i would have guessed a 20vt would have "pissed" on it.

i duno if it was the works or not, that would have bben more like it as i est that my car is around 210ish BHP
I was VERY suprised at how well he was doing, i think if it was an empty road and we had a lane each it may have been differant. (not by mush )

just checked on parkers and yeah the "works" is quick 210BHP and 0-60 in 6.4 so not bad at all!!

and they are "Weight: 1215 kg " wich i think is lighter than the ibiza but im not sure on that + i was 2 up (dont know how much that would change anything)

i'd say its had the sports package mate, its the equivilant to revo for them, and gives them 200bhp from 160 so it was probably an equal match, i remember when i was Stock, 156bhp and i leveled up to a cooper S which was std, so a remap and your up to the speed of the sworks one if that makes sense.

Although i've recently had my settings tweaked by one of the masters on here, and now pulls better higher up the rev range, so maybe you need to drop your timing back a bit, although you have a FMIC

My mate has a Cooper S, we were both standard, and when we had a dabble it was very even, he only just pulled past me in the end...

As everyone has said either you car isn't making the power it should, or he had more power than the usual 160bhp.

ibiza is 1120kg mate

the difference is the weight of a large passenger
must of been tuned surely!

would be abit embarassing going round in a cooper s and smugly grinning at everyone...much of had some confidence in himself

my mate has a coooper s works, fast motors but top out at sumink like 140 (slow from 120)

The works has a oval shaped badge under the cooper normaly

I must add my 6p worth with the missus having a mini cooper (non s mind). I drive it quite often and cant speak for performance (with mine pushing circa 210bhp so it is slow in comparison) but the handling and ride of the cooper is amazing. It reminds me of driving my 106 gti you can throw it around corners and it never complains.

I was tempted with the works version myself but for the price tag decided I could get something a bit more "special" so im holding on for an Evo!

no it blummin is'nt mate... get it on a weighbridge/scales....

mines 1127kg as is with a lot of sh1t removed from it.

i had a cooper S which i drove to Le mans last year, it was a week after ai picked my Fr up. It did'nt feel as sudden in boost as the Ibiza. But it just seemed to go on for ages, more like a Normaly asperated engine would.

Was very good if you caned the nuts off it. and that was comletly standard.

However don't forget the Minis are quite easy to tune to 200 + . I think a simple pulley change and a chip will see you around 210 bhp in a cooper S.

so he may of played with it, hard to tell without asking the owner. still prpabbaly cost him 16K for th car, so at least you can be smug knowing yours cost a lot less and you got better value for money.

i got that figure from a technical spec sheet so i cant confirm this myself
surely they cant lie?
forbez's search came up with the same figure, although a different one for the cooperS
