Milltek

They're getting a bit like a clitoris....

How can you say no then!?

I like's me Milltek and believe that its a well made piece of kit. I know its overpriced but their reputation is reasonably justified.

They are not the only ones out there but as a guide they are more than a good starting point.

The Leon has a resonated system on it and sounds very much stock most of the time. Anonymity.

I didn't on the Leon; I said yes, and was left wondering what all the fuss was about as (and lets face it we are talking about glorified pipes here), I didn't see what the premium was delivering against the hype.

The fact that more recently production has moved to China, and the failure rate has gone up, says to me that they have earned a reputation, yes, but can they keep it (same as Mercedes in the late 90's???)

In part I agree, but it's the way people talk as if it is the only choice; like the old I'm buying coilovers to go cross town scenario. It's become a sound byte rather than an informed choice (for some).

Which is incidentally why I still rate them against the saturn 5 rockets lashed to the back of some french skips.

I see Milltek a bit like my S3; accomplished, but way over-priced against the competition and offering very little more. If I had never had one I'd feel inclined to be more sensitive about it, but I have had about 8 different brands of exhaust over the years, and Milltek owners all too often seem to think they are the only way. I just didn't get that vibe when I had one so I remain perplexed and confused :D

i have had various exhausts as well but never a milltek so it will be a first for me. I only seem to hear good things about them and from them so i'll give it a go, they seem to be the choice for VAG's.

they are a good choice but not THE choice, i wouldnt go milltek again to be honest, i had blueflame on my MK1 lcr and rated at the same as the milltek but cheaper. there are also other makes out there are just aswell made but less common, which is a plus for me

I don't think you will be disappointed, and the only reason I am presenting any challenge to the Milltek view is to ensure you've done your research and appreciate all the offerings out there:

E.g.

Milltek
APR
Blueflame
Pipewerx
MV Sport
etc.....

As BHP/£ mods go they aren't cheap bits of kit, so if you can find a good group buy or saving sometimes that should inform your choice too.

Note at no point have I ever said you should buy the exhaust brand I have, because they are the best. Only Milltek owners tend to do that!!! :cartman:

Yes a lot of VAG scene have them, but then a lot of lemmings jump off of cliffs because they only see part of the bigger picture. Don't be afraid to be an individual!

Update

Ok, its on......well impressed!

They guy from Vtune Leeds who remapped my car sorted the exhaust out for me, got a grage to fit it for 25quid (only took him 20min!)......i did try my sefl....theres always one bolt that wont shift!

Now it still needs bedding in properly but the sound it kicks out is evil! Its not massivly loud like a scooby pipe but it just sounds so aggressive! and when im just driving normally:whistle: its sounds nice and quiet.

I gave it a good drive the other night and found some lengthy tunnels around Leeds, openned the taps.....WOW! Well chuffed with it! Its not just the noise tho, the pipe combined with the remap has transformed it into a beast!

Defo recomend milltek, especialy if you are looking for a good pure sound out of it!

yep, non resi....oh and a tip for you all if you havnt done this already. As you knwo, the cupra has got way too much sound proofing so even if you strapped a rocket to the back of the car u still wunt hear it.....take the back seats down and enjoy the noise!! i came accross it just by accident but if you wanna hear the pipe sing, take the seats down!
