Dear all,

Anyone got a pic of their milltek downpipe and cat MSVW257? I just bought a second hand one and when I got it there is a very flat area just in front of the 1st lambda sensor area around a foot from the manifold end. Is this normal and is it just to miss the bulkhead as it curls down to the exhaust area.

Thanks for any help as I have booked it into a garage tomorrow for fitting and am wondering if this has come off a crashed car or something.

Cheers

David

Hi Lee,

I saw that pic before, it does look a bit like that, just above the 6 in junction26m1 and straight across from the gasket. Hope that gasket is not different from a standard one also and the clamp on the standard exhaust is the same for the other end or thats another problem.

Took a few pics have to say it does look like its been flattened by a machine there are kind of claw marks like vise grips but 4 or 5 " vise grips and I don't think its been hammered. See what you think

dog bone already fitted a few years ago at Star Performance so very little movement in the engine. Tomorrow will tell if it works looking forward to it. Any idea what extra BHP or decrease in RPM of the turbo kick in I will actually get with this big bore pipe and high flow cat? just wondering if anyone has ever actually measured the before and after.

I've also got one (that i bought second hand) but it also has the same flat area so i'd say its done by milltek. Its unreal the difference in size when you take the old one off!!

the garage can't get the bloody nuts off they have tried and tried. They think if they try any harder they will snap the studs and then its a turbo and manifold off job probably. Just great was looking forward to the difference. Will have to try other garages tomorrow I think.

finally got the old manifold off and the second hand milltek on. Great job appears to be a lot more grunt don't think the turbo kicks in any sooner in RPM but when it does it certainly feels more rapid.

Only problem I have as before the bloody exhaust is still hitting somewhere. I have checked heat shields, exhaust clearence etc. just can't see what is hitting. It gets worse when the car is more loaded which made me think it must be over the trailing arm suspension but it looks clear. Any ideas? should I upgrade all the hangers to prevent more movement. Just worried it makes the exhaust even louder as there is a fair increase in noise with the manifold already.

Was thinking of wrapping the entire system and DP with heat wrap. At a loss !!

dog bone mount already on its just weird. I noticed a lot of the nuts holding the heat shield were in a bad state spent a few hours under the car replacing all of them and tightening them up. All looked great but no. I get a sort of heat shield vibration noise under flat out acceleration or accelerating while turning a corner and a lower frequency clunking noise when hitting bumps which I think may be it hitting the rear suspension. Bloody annoying !!
