Media System 2.0 - Is there an update?

Hey folks,

Question time!

1) I have the Media System 2.0 in my Leon CR170 FL - (RNS315) but it has an old map cd, I can sort that part out but is there an update for the system itself? Ie is 2.0 hardware or software / can it be updated to 2.1 / 2.2?

If so, any pointers where I can find the firmware?

The dealer when selling me the car mentioned 'oh you can stream audio from your iPhone also..."

I am pretty sure you can't, only with the 2.2 versions and/or updated BT module?

Thanks :)

All updates can only be obtained by upgrading the hardware.

They're on 2.2 now.

Just to clarify its the RNS 310 (Media System 2.0) which can be updated with a Maps CD. This adds in full 7-digit postcode support.

The RNS 315 (Media System 2.1/ 2.2) can not be updated the same way.

Shan't be posting any 'links' but Google is your friend here ;)

Yeh ive updated my RNS310 a few times now, Update via CD and then copy to SD card so you can still use the CD player if needed

Ive got maps and music on SD card though

Yeah I've also got the V4 maps on mine stored to SD. Those are from 2012 so still fairly current and use TomTom data.

That's one if the most annoying things on the satnav in mine. You can't put in the full postcode then house number which is so much easier.

Media Error (Head Unit)

Hi All.
I've got the basic head unit for my Car, Supports MP3, has a USB and Aux near the gearstick.
I've started having (more and more frequently) my stereo go "Bong" like the fasten seat belt noise in an airplane!

Then show "Media error", every time I attempt to switch back to the USB on the head unit it just states "media error" and kicks me back to the radio.

I thought it might of been the files it was trying to play but I've tried various tracks, various qualities and re-encoded a bunch. Also it will play a track, Next time it may fail, Then next time it will play without issue.

There doesn't appear to be a pattern I'm noticing.

The only pattern I've found that is if I turn the stereo off and then turn the car off, Then lock the car, wait a minute, Unlock the car sometimes it will allow me to use the USB stick.

Othertimes I just have to drive with no music until I get to my destination (Usually work)
And when I drive home its fixed.

I'm not sure if its related but my Aux port Half works also as in audio comes from the right speakers fine, left speakers are missing channels.

It'll be going back under warrenty for the aux port but the USB I'm sure its something simple?

Any help is appreciated.
