Just got myself a viynl to cover my roof red. How did you manage to work around the aerial mate ?
Been trying to work out where to cut a circle out for it but I don't want to ruin the viynl. ( cos I know I'll f**k it up lol ) any tips ?
Thanks budd

I got mine off eBay. It was listed as black but I just sent him a message sayin I wanted it red. £32 like, bit steep for a sheet of plastic or whatever it is. That's y I really don't fancy Fu**ing up where the aerial goes.

I took the aerial off mate if you take the headlining down at the back it's a 22mm nut holding it on undo that disconnect it and off it comes

well
1. Lay it vinyl face down to get the rough size
2. Make sure roof is super clean
3. Spray with water lots of water on the roof to enable you to move it
4. Now you have to be really quick with this bit or the vinyl
will stick to the paper backing, put it paper aide down and quickly remove the paper backing from
underneath
5. Pull it tight by the corners and lay it on. Then start to squeege out the water from the centre of the roof
6. Once water is out the edges tend to ripple a bit with it been a curved roof, so you will need to get a heat gun/ hair dryer to stretch the vinyl to get rid of the bubbles. Then get a sharp knife and cut to size :)

Once it's cut to size heat the edges and push them down this will seal the edges :)
you will get bubbles to get rid of them I just knicked them with the knife and push the air out and once it's shrunk on after a week or so they will disappear :)

and cal91 I got it off eBay it was 28 quid
just put in black roof vinyl and it's the stuff with a picture of a golf as the picture
size was 1220x2200 this will give you enough to do wing mirrors covers like I did if you want too :)

hope this helps you! End result is so worth all this work!

Cheers bud. I've just copy&pasted that haha. I might take it to g force & ask them to do it for a couple of quid. They did my sun visor in literally 2 minutes & it is perfect.

So does the actual black thing that the aerial sticks into come off the roof so the the whole roof is flat ? (or left with a hole)

With 10 been the hardest I'd say about 7, this was second attempt at it cos I wasn't really concentrating the first time and got the paper backing wet! If you wanna practise you can order smaller sheets off eBay and do little parts on the car say spoiler to get used to the way it bends and stretches :)

deffo 2 man job.
And thanks for the compliment :D

May aswell let everyone knows what I've done since this
well i:

painted the drums black (again)
got a short aerial
had spoiler, mirror covers and b pillar covers painted

and I'm refurbing my old alloys, spraying the edge o the badgeless grill a crazy colour

next week Im retrimming the headlining in black suade and tinting the rear lights so they are all red.

Thank you sir :)
I don't wanna sell it anymore tho :( I'm seriously thinking just bang the turbo engine innit :)

oh yes btw people
I had a 2 and a quarter inch boxless centre section put on other week at reedspeed in Doncaster. Sounds great very raspy and not all chavvy :)

I bought the polo gti manifold to fit but my downpipe is different to that of the
guy who I stole the idea from therefore I'm having to sell it :/
