Hi

I am new to the forum and would like some advice.

I have a Leon FR 1.9TDI 150bhp and thinking of fitting a Magnex XSS08 back box.

Has anyone fiited one of these?
What does it sound like?
Do you have to tell your insurance?

looking forward to replies

Hi there not too sure about sound with a TDI but even if you do tell your insurance company its not going to effect your premium as it will give little or no performance gains

Off topic I know, but i was just wondering, is a back box really necessary on a TDi? Does anyone know if they sound much louder without it? I believe the turbo has quite a silencing effect and so maybe the turbo, catalyst and front silencer are enough?

If so, you could replace the back box with a piece of pipe straight to the tail pipe, and maybe reduce back pressure a little.

On an old Astra I had years ago, the back box did absolutely nothing useful - I only knew the pipe had rusted away from it when they made me get a new one at the MOT. There was no change in the exhaust sound at all!

I wouldnt bother with a Magnex unless your after a chavvie sounding motor tbh! You would be better off with cat back Milltek or Supersprint:D

i disagree mine sounds good but then everyones choice is different, i think blue flame a crap, all that money and they cant get The LC ones to fit right
