Hi folks,
Got a couple of questions about some power loss problems I've been having with my 110 TDi Leon. Brief potted history first...
I'd been seeing an intermittent power loss for a bit. Basically I'd hit about 3000 rpm at motorway cruise speed and I'd feel a hesitation from the engine and thereafter seemed to have no turbo and significantly reduced acceleration, making it a real struggle to get to anything like 70mph. Cycling the ignition seemed to cure whatever it was but then it'd come back again.
Read up on here and came to the conclusion that it was the MAF. Took it into the dealers and they said, yep, it's the MAF. We'll get one in.
Took it back this morning, and they put the new MAF on and found that one (appeared) to be faulty as well. They also found a fault with (I think) a pressure valve (?). It's whatever controls the opening of the wastegate.
So....
1. With the MAF acting up and only reading about 160 grams of air rather than 230 (or thereabouts) that it should do, is it likely to be safe to drive any distance. Was hoping to go to Rockingham on Sunday but don't fancy it if it's going to do any damage.
2. Any ideas what else could be the culprit? Bit fed up that they had it all day on Thursday, all this morning and it's still not sorted. Just want to make sure I've done my homework when it goes back in AGAIN next week....
Cheers
