Fair enough, will see if I can sort a VAGCOM cable out at some point so I can log expected airflow vs actual airflow, or whatever it is
Mine was a SEAT exchange unit - £64+VAT from the dealers. How much does a new MAF cost?
SEAT dealers...? I'm sure there must be pattern ones around seeing as VW/AUDI/SEAT/SKODA recognise the MAF as being a known weakness with the PD engines, esp. the 130. Would they be any cheaper ordered through a VW or Skoda dealers?Where's the best place to order them from?
Have a look in the TDI FAQ - there are a few threads on MAFs. It is easy to locate so I'd imagine easy to fit...? Dealer charged me about £18 to fit it. I'm sure there are threads or parts of threads where identifying and fitting the MAF is covered. Is it reasonably easy to replace yourself? (For someone with no real experience at doing things with cars).
Sounds like even I might be able to do it!its a doddle to replace yourself, but you need some security torx bits to undo it, or if you get the whole thing in the pipe then it can be replaced even easier. If you get just the MAF unit itself its just a case of unplugging it, undoing the two security torx bits slide the old one out, new one in and reverse the procedure.
I did manage to remove & refit the Ibiza's MAF with a pair of molegrips, but wasn't so successful on the Passat......you need some security torx bits to undo it...
