MAF part number

i think the turbo is working but in limp mode... so its hardly boosting. if the turbo was damaged id imagine you`d hear it and youd have smoke from the exhaust.

have you checked coolant level? im suprised theres nothing on vagcom... im guessing youve checked all the hoses are secure?

if you unplugged the maf and the problem remained i doubt its that.

... i doubt reving the engine with vagcom would show a faulty maf. you need to do a full run in to see what values the maf is showing. they tend to under read as they begin to die.

OK, I've disconnected the MAF, orange light on dash, runs smooth & drives faster than ever before.

Is it possible the previous owner fitted the wrong MAF, as the clips dont really align.

I cant see the part number as its facing away from me.

So I buy a new MAF & fit, simple but stupid me STILL cant see the engine code - needed to order the right part.

Pretty please can you lot help me out?

In an above post it mentions a lug with it on?

Can you not tell from the model and year?

1.8 20v T year 2000 W reg.

The engine cover has been removed in the following pictures but you can see the position of the lug in relation to the oil filler cap.

The middle chain in this picture is attached to the lug:

Unfortunately it's not straight forward to ascertain the engine code by model & year, mine is an early '01 LC and has an AUQ engine.

HELP - Temp Sensor / MAF

Hi,

I now know my MAF is NOT working (after disconnecting it) and wondered if giving it a 'clean' (with IPA / Alcohol) may fix it, or should I just replace it anyway?

The Temp red light flashed me this morning again.

The G12 coolant appears to be at the correct level, but I'm gonna buy a bottle of G12+ this wkend anyway, as I've not got any.

The Temp gauge does work, as after about 5 mins its up at 90.

Could this simply be a case of scrapping the prongs in the coolant header tank?

As the Temp gauge DOES work, coolant level is well above minimum and the Temp does reach 90 after a short while, what could be the problem.

Anyone know the Temp Sensor part number so I can order one?

Your right on both parts...cleaning the MAF with cleaner can improve it, however it might not completely fix it.

The red temp light again is quite a common thing and is usually resolved by cleaning the prongs in the coolant tank like you suggested

I've located the engine code, APP.

I've ordered the corresponding MAF for £30 & will try to replace myself.

I've cleaned the prongs in the header tank, which weren't dirty. Could it be the sensor has gone?

Where is the sensor and how easy is it to replace?

Any idea of the part number I have to order?

APP engine code (same as mine) you require the 06A906461D.

Its an exchange part with a £20 surcharge. We charge £49.95+ but dealers would be near twice that. Find your local TPS and pop in there.

on an engine that old i would wager it has rubbish coolant temp sensor.
23 quid or so will get you a green topped one.this is ANOTHER known faulty part on the 20vt

located in a hose above the gear box,has a 3 pin plug attached to it iirc
