Hiya everyone,

for MAF cleaning ive read the best product to use is Isopropyl alcohol.

however im going away tomorrow to a friends for a long weekend which involves a 3 hour drive, meaning that the alcohol wont arrive from maplins in time.

so i was wondering if there are other products i could use/ or that others have used that i should be able to get from a shop?

many thanks in advance

surely wd40 would gunk the maf up even more.

isopropyl is electrical cleaner, wd40 isnt, its greasy so will do to the maf exactly what you wouldnt want happening.

Dont use WD please lol, pop to your local motor factors and buy some CARB CLEANER, this is used for cleaning carbeurettors on older engines etc.

Readily available and does the same job as the IPA.

I have used this myself, so can vouch for it working.

dont like the sound of even carb cleaner, with all thoise chemicals in it,best to use Isopropyl alcohol for sensitive electrical stuff.

Dont bother with any of it it doesn't work. The MAF is probably giving out a low signal so all the cleaning in the world wont make it better. You need to replace it thats the only way in my opinion to get past your problem.

You need a special tamperproof torx screwdriver anyway to get it out:blink:

I think the OP's idea is mis-directed, as yes, MAF cleaning doesnt do a lot, but a throttle bottle clean willl be beneficial,

Squirt the Carb Cleaner AFTER the MAF, so just pull off the pipe behind.

This will give better results, MAF's are sensitive beings.
