Low profile tyres?

Hey guys,

I just got my new 15" alloys last week moving up from 14" steels.

As expected there is a bit more road noise but i have noticed a slight vibration in the steering wheel which seems odd to me.
Thing is that the garage said they had already balanced the wheels, so just wondering if any of you guys noticed this when moving to lower profile tyres?

or did the garage just balance them craply and should i go somewhere else?

Personally, I would have them checked over. Give the tyre fitters you used a ring and ask if they could check it once more- the worst they could say is no.

Another thing to check, is if they are not Seat alloys that they have the correct spigot rings fitted. These ensure the wheel sits snug over the hub for aftermarket wheels that may have a variety of fitments.

Never heard of spigot rings before now

Looking it up on google the syptoms sound similar so they could be the problem.

The alloys were off a VW golf and the bore is apparently the same or is that something differ altogether?

It's most likely balancing in that case then. Can you remember if the wheels centred snug onto the hub? I imagine the VW alloys won't need spigot rings as they will probably be the correct fitment.

I took and got them rebalanced on my way home today so i will have to see what they are like tomorrow.
Too much traffic today to see for definate.
I took a good look when the wheels came off and they seem to fit nice and snug, so hopefully the rebalance will cure the vibration.
Thanks for your help
