Low clutch biting point

Noticed this last week or so that first thing in morning or when the car is left for a good few hours that the biting point on the clutch is very low to the floor.

Also the clutch pedal does not return smoothly to the top

Once I've driven it for 10 minutes it's fine

Any clues please

I took my LCR in for a similar problem last Friday, but sods law, the bite was okay when they drove it. They mentioned something about the seal on the master cylinder, sometimes it folds, specially when cold. They also told me it mostly affects the Ibiza more than the Leon... so it could be that.

The Ibiza's have clutch master cylinder sticking problems - meaning that the biting point can vary.

Rashcupra posts a thread on how to sort it. Do a lil search and all should be made clear. :)

The clutch pedal sticks halfway on it's return then pings up,so it does seem to be pointing to the master cylinder

Seat will not cover this claim on my used car warranty[:@]

Not happy, won't be taking it to a Seat garage at their rates !!

Well after numerous calls and emails I have still had no joy with Seat [:@]

Looks like I will have to pay for this myself

it's really bad first thing in the morning now and I struggle to get it into a gear.

Once the cars been driven for 5 minutes though it's fine

I've been told it should be the master cylinder BUT it could be the slave which is inside the gearbox (stupid place to put it as it means gearbox out!!)

Update

Had it in the garage today

Slave cylinder which is inside the gearbox

Temporary fix to get me going by bleeding it and adding some fluid.

So,whilst the gearbox is out I'm having an uprated clutch fitted

If you are having an uprated clutch then I think you need a remap under the new PD130 law. ;)
