I had a problem with a loud noise suddenly coming from behind the glovebox/passenger footwell area when the fan for the climatronic was running. I've just finished sorting it now, so i thought i would start a thread for anyone with the same issues. The cause of the noise was some insulation, from the area under the dash, had been sucked into the fan.
You'll need the usual things for interior work... A set of torx bits, (or at least a T25) some screwdrivers and a set of small sockets.
Steps are as follows:
1.Open passenger door and gently prise the cover off the end of the dash.
2. Unplug the glovebox light connector (number 4 in the diagram below) The connector has clips on the top and bottom, they need to be gently lifted using two small flat screwdrivers to unplug it.

3. If you have a cd changer fitted it makes it much easier to remove it now. Remove the plastic trim around it by gently prising it off at the top, then lifting it upwards to unclip the bottom. Remove the 2 torx screws and the changer pulls out.
4. Remove the torx bolts as in the diagram above, remove item number 6 first, then the 3 from the end of the dash and finally the 4 from inside the glove box. The glove box should now come straight out.
5.You can now see the climatronic assembly. Remove the connector (Item A) that plugs in to the back of fan. Also gently pull the wiring free from the little clip on the fan unit, so that the fan can come out without snagging on the wiring.

6. Now looking up at the unit from underneath, ( see pic below) you can see two bolts (B), remove these and then the cover (C) comes off and the fan unit slides out downwards towards the footwell.

7. Clean the fan unit of any insulation/foam and most importantly check the duct behind for anymore loose foam etc.
8. Reassemble in reverse order, making sure the fan unit is tightly reseated and that you plug all the connectors back in. Once done, Test that the fan unit runs quietly before you refit the glovebox, making sure not to catch any of the wiring behind it.
