My 2015 Alhambra has developed a scary problem when braking the first press on the pedal is normal releasing & pressing again pedal is lower, do it again & it almost goes to the floor nearly had a collision! after this the pedal is normal at first press. The rear brakes are new discs, pads & callipers all replaced & tested. I took the car into SEAT dealer recently to reprogram the airbag controller & they checked the car very carefully. This problem seems to have started after this dealer visit!?

First check your brake fluid level....
if low, top up, then start the car and depress your brake as you normal do.
but with constant pressure…if the pedal goes down, then your brake master cylinder might be defective or
you could have a leak>>>>check out straight away!!!!!
it could be air as well, but am not sure off that.
a other fault could be your pistons on the brake calipers.

But get car into a mechanic asap...

I took it to my local dealer as they were concerned as they had just done a software update on the airbags ECU & a general check of the car. They found that the LH rear caliper was leaking at the flex hose connector. Looks like the garage that fitted the calipers had not tightened the banjo union enough & it had loosened allowing a leak. they tightened the union & checked the others. All OK now. They also wondered if the Master cylinder was a bit worn after nearly 200,000 miles. I will get it checked in a month or two.

Thats good news anyway, you dont wont to hit the brakes and nothing happens.....:eek::eek:
Flex hose should be a easy fix, about the software update I have my own opinion.
just check your brakes when you leave home, better to be sure....

Have a great New Year....

I'd think that the workshop that replaced the rear calliper just reused the original banjo bolt sealing washers - which might be okay if they had removed them and polished up their surfaces, as I have done, but if doing that you need to use a higher tightening torque - which is not always a good idea as some of these callipers have aluminium bodies, okay if they are steel ones though I suppose, "Lucas" = aluminium, ATE/Teves = steel.

Now I have another brake problem the automatic electro mechanical parking brake has stopped working, The manual handbrake switch still works. If it is the control module can I replace it with a refurbished unit, or does it need a dealer to reprogram it?
