Loss of all power, including power steering

Hi all,

just got back from no rice, but on the way back my car started to jerk every time I put it in gear, the revs would go mental with the clutch down, and lost all electrics including power steering and essentially engine.

Anything I should be looking at? It's the first time it's done it and it just seems a bit weird.

The cars a 99 GTi 2.0 16v.

All help would be greatly apreciated.

When its the crank sensor? I always say it - but...

Check wiring from battery to starter motor and from there into the loom - mine was all corroded and made it run like ****!

Same symptoms as when my crank sensor went.....
