Loosing Coolent

Well I seem to be leaking or something. I do rev quite high never in the red but I have been raking the tits off the car anyway I seem to have eaten the coolent. EEEk How do I top it up, (presuming I need some anti freze from seat there own brand) and whats the problem likely 2 be

coluld be a leak or could be headgasket take to a gararge to get it looked at bofore to cook it and you top it up in the round bottle with the blueish cap that says either G11 or G12 on it water will be ok as a small top up

nah they have that mix, g12 or something coolent is usualy perminent and therefore when I find out theres a leak Im rather scared lol

a form of coolant becareful not to mix because some turn to jelly like substance and DONT flow just block

there is a pressure valve inside the blue filler cap, this can go faulty and let out a bit of steam and make the level drop

a new cap is only a few quid, probably less than a bottle of seat antifreeze

are we talking about antifreeze here or coolant as I swear they are two completely different things!

coolent has anti freeze in. its baisicly water with anti freeze. Cool ill get a new cap although the seal did release fine before and Ill get some G12 as Iv put some water in till tomorow ( measured how much I put in so I know how much G12 2 put in aswell).

be dead carefull you put the G12 in (pink) as a 50/50 mix with water as ive seen vag cars sensors fook by putting cheap coolant in the system! ive got 4spare bottles at home just incase!

lost about a cm over a month

a faulty expansion tank cap is the favorite and only a few quid too


I remember I had a vauxhall carlton a few years ago and that used to have the same problem as you are having

one cold winters day I went to top up the washer fluid after a run home from work, lifted the bonnet and saw a little trail of steem rising from the expansion tank cap, replaced it and never had another problem with coolant loss
