Loose boost pipes?

I've noticed while I've been driving my car, that if I accelerate, when the turbo kicks in, there seems to be a noise like a rush of air.

Is this normal for the Leon FR TDI? I'm only worried because it sounds like the noise that happened in my Focus TDCi when one of the boost pipes was loose and air was escaping when I accelerated!

Thanks,
Andy

Yes, a hissing noise when accelerating sounds like a loose or split turbo pipe, I had the same thing on my 147 TDI.

Hi Street, dont believe it! This only happened to me a couple of weeks ago as I was coming back on the M25 in the fast lane going at quite a pace  all of a sudden there was a loud pop and a very quick whoosh of air, sounded exactly like a tyre burst. The car started to judder and lost power straight away so pulled over to hard shoulder and to my surprise all tyres perfect, no burning smell etc. Had a quick look under the bonnet but all looked ok. Went to pull off again but it just coughing and spluttering, smoke from exhaust and we managed to kangaroo along hard shoulder to nearest service station which was luckily close by! Phoned Seat Assistance was actually very good and AA came down within 30 mins. The guy had a look in the engine bay and from what I had described he looked down and found straight away the boost pipe from the intercooler had completely blown off. Apparently he was telling me that VW group fit rubbish retaining clips and has come across this before. Anyway to cut a long story short, got the car to my dealer the next day and they completely renewed the pipe and clip fixing. Just one note to add, just before it happened there was a hissing sound when accelerating coming from front passenger side so could have been a sign it was working loose so well worth getting checked me thinks! [B)] Anyway at least it was covered under warranty, the car I have is a standard FR TDI.

It wasnt a recall but the boost pipes are being replaced when cars go into the dealers. Its a known issue.

Took it in this morning and had my first ever dealing with Seat service. I was impressed! Got it up on the ramps first thing at 8.30am and did it while I waited. Offered my tea an coffee as well.. Had the car back and ready for me to get back to work by 9.15! :D

any pics of the location on this? I have looked but can`t see much from above at the back of the engine:whistle:

As seres said.. If you jack the car up and remove the tray its fairly straightforward. Would have done it myself.. But hey, thats what a warranty is for! :D

PS. Its right at the front of the engine at the bottom you want to be looking! :)

I have an '05 plate Leon FR and it seems to have a noisy waste gate (sounds like darth vader) and Ive noticed a squeek when accelerating away at times, usually after the car has been stood. Any ideas if this could be a similar problem?

Thanks in advance

Hi. This pipe has came off my 54 Leon Cupra Tdi. I clipped it back in but it blew off again as soon as I hit boost. Does anyone have the part code for this so I can order one? Also any idea of cost? Cheers.
