I never had any issues other than slow performance until I deleted all the foreign language files etc.
In the interests of science I tried following the advice at the link I put up in my last post, the unit wouldn't find a loading.bmp it was prepared to load with the exact settings the poster advises but it works perfectly for me with just the lines below in the sys.txt. the loading.bmp it is prepared to work with in the directory pointed to by 400_240 doesn't appear to be a valid format I can open.

Thanks for the info. I am waiting for my UHC-1 sd card to reduce any bottleneck and will be clearing some of the redundant files like foreign languages etc

Also been looking to get the latest fw update for the device, but no luck..even emailed and called philips and they couldnt help...

I found a tool that supposedly saves BMP files in the odd format that IGo requires and saved the nice Seat Media System image at the link below as 800 * 480 to be the loading.bmp but the unit won't start up until I revert to the 400_240 folder with its boring grey image.

The firmware is easy to find e.g. http://tdj.com.au/firmware/Philips/CED1800BT/

But from long experience with updating Computer BIOSs etc I always think only risk breaking it if you are trying to fix something that is broken and have good reason to think the update is going to fix it.

Just read to the end of the other thread...seems like its not fully working yet...
With my limited knowledge, its highly unlikely I can achieve such feat

I came across those BIOS too but have hold off updating it due to the reason you mentioned...

I was hoping there is a changelog as I have been experiencing some problem with the UNIcode layouts...But its not a big problem so I wont risk bricking the unit

Time to try the bluetooth functions and do some fine adjustments to the unit, like sat nav volume etc and giving some TLC to the car

The_Saint any idea if there is a way we can install a custom start up logo so instead of PHILIPS our car logo will appear? I am sure it can be done but any idea how?

I am afraid not, I imagine that this would involve updating the firmware
