Hi I went to work last night and I noticed my car sounded odd, when I finished I noticed my middle silencer has gone and its blowing form the seem on the side. I rang around all morning trying to find the middle section but no one sells them and the only place I can get one from is seat they want £280 for the part, clamps n fitting :'(

So I searched around n came across longlife exhausts n they want £369 for a full stainless system inculding fitting n vat

What do u all think, has anyone had one or got one? Your reviews of them are really appcriated

i'm sure this has been asked loads before!!

I had a long life system on my old car. Was excellent value and built for the car.

I would of gone the same route with my mk2 LCR had I not found a Miltek cat back for mine at a good price.

I think long life in Bicester (liquid metal) quoted me about £400 for a 3" cat back system including the twin tail pipes (a copy of a miltek basically)

Where are you based? Do a search on google for reviews on your local long life dealer. The results will vary!

Where abouts are you?

I've not used liquid metal before but they have been there for a number of years and quite a lot of guys in the Jap scene talk about using those guys to build systems. They get a mention on quite a few forums. I've been in to speak to them a few times and they seem quite knowledgable.

You need to stipulate exactly what exhaust you want or they will use the smallest diameter pipe that they can get away with. I had my exhaust built by long life but I designed it/told them exactly what I wanted

Depends on the car, engine, what you want in terms of noise/performance etc. They tried to fit a 2.5" downpipe and a 2.25"exhaust (cat back)to mine, and i'm no expert but i know that i wanted something a lot bigger than that. Couldn't fault their workmanship though once they agreed to build it how i wanted it.

For that price i'm assuming its a cat-back exhaust?

the system I spec'd up with them was 3". But like you say, you have to sit with them and say exactly what you want, then listen to their recommendation and then make up your mind what you actually want.

Dan, did you go with a 3" all the way? What did they charge if you don't mind me asking.
3" downpipe reducing to 2.75" rear section with two silencers. Quiet for everyday use and loud enough when i want it to be. Cost all in was about £550, but i had the catback and decat/downpipe done a few months apart. Also buy a stainless flange for them to use or they will cut the one of your original downpipe and use that

Yeah they told me to go 2.5" all the way and that a 3" downpipe was 'stupid' and would lose me power. I didn't listen.... lol

I went with a Cupra style tip as it fills the bumper cutout nicely. Mine is reasonably sized though and not as big as some of the aftermarket cupra exhausts. I'll try and find a pic when i et home later, cant access photobucket account in work
