Lock Problem?

Guys, can you help me out with this? My wife has an 05 1.4s Leon, and I've just bought a 52 LCR. She has the fixed key and I have the flip model. Her doors don't have the lock things that go up and down, mine does.

Anyway, when she presses unlock once, the driver side door opens, and when she presses it again the others unlock. Mine on the otherhand never unlocks the other doors. I have to use the panel on the driver door. Is there something I've done, or is it faulty? I have a 30 day warranty with the dealer so I want to get it checked out ASAP.

Thanks all

Sounds like a fault on the central convenience and will need looking at..

normal shud unlock the drivers door on 1 click on the unlock 2 quick clicks should unlock all the other doors and the boot. 1 lock locks them all up and 2 quick clicks on the lock button turns the deadlocks off

Yeah, that's what I thought. At first I wondered if I'd managed some kind of combination that changed the mode, but I figured that we'd have done the same thing to the Mrs' car by now in the four years she's owned it, and there was nothing in the manual about it either.

I'll call the dealer later and see if they can sort it or not

Spoke to some guys at work today who know a lot more about cars than I do seem to think that it's battery related. Something to do with the car not starting today.

Basically, I turn the ignition on, the lights all come on as expected, the radio comes on, the climate control starts working, I can even turn the lights on, but when I turn the ignition most of the lights go off and the barrel locks me out of turning it to position 3 again. I have to remove the key and reinsert it to get to pos 3 again. I've tried locking the doors and unlocking again, I've tried putting it in gear, taking the hand brake off; all sorts. Nothing would start the car this morning. Something similar happened yesterday when my Mrs tried to start it but when I took the keys off her and tried it myself it worked OK, so I assumed she was doing something wrong. Turns out not :(

Got back from work and the car started up first time, no problems. I have tested the battery and I have 12v when the car isn't running, and 14.5v when it is. I'll see what happens tomorrow morning though; I wonder if the battery is over sensitive to the temperature?

Anyway, I did as someone at work suggested, and disconnected the battery, waited a minute and then held the two leads together for a couple of minutes. We reconnected the battery and lo and behold, the locks now work as they're supposed to.

Unfortunately, I've now realised that I don't have the key code for the radio and I'm locked out. I did consider changing the head unit for a Kenwood that the Mrs never bothered to put in her Leon, but I'll loose the CD changer and I like that feature. Still, one more problem fixed, a few more found :(

If it is then I can't find it. I've looked through all the paperwork that I have and I can't see it anywhere. Oddly I seem to have also lost the lock wheel nut bolt, which was in the glove compartment when I went to look at the car but is now missing. It's like the more things I look in to, the more things are missing. Grrr!

Yeah, did that and it seems to be OK now. We'll see if it will start this morning after this too. Will be going out in 45 mins, so I'll know soon enough

I don't know! I was suprised when I saw them as the wifes 1.4 doesn't have them, so I assumed that Leons don't have them, but mine does

Yes and no. It was the ends of the leads, which were not connected to any power source at the time. It's a fairly common thing to do to discharge electronics; we use a similar method at work on laptops and it drains the system completely

Not the earth wire, and there's no power in the car, it's the pos and neg cables, effectively creating a circuit but with no power source

Really? On a power plug you have pos, neg and earth. A car may be wired up differently, I'm no expert, but the opposite to positive is negative :D
