you would be supprised at how many people come to my garage with both bulbs gone, usually what happens is one goes and the person doesnt notice and gets used to it, then panics when the other goes!! lol! i couldnt imagine any highly observant lcr owner doing that..... but yes if both bulbs were fitted together then why should it be such a supprise if they blow together?? its also very common for the fuse to blow when a bulb blows, the filament breaks up and floats around inside the bulb and can create a short which pops the fuse.
just a quick tip.... slamming the bonnet with the lights on is a bad idea, it stresses the filaments.

If its the first time the headlights have gone it maybe they both ran outter life together, they both were put in together and used the same about. So its possible that both could blow at the same time and not blow a fuse

(just an idea)

still seems like a coincidence, there must be a surge of some sort i would have thought.

Anyone had a go at replacing the front bulbs on an LCR, how easy/hard is it?

The same thing happened to me yesterday, both lights blew at the same time. I had Phillips Blue vision bulbs, when i started my engine and turned the lights on i was suprised on how blue they were!!! then they flickered a bit and then went off, first i though it was a technical fault but they were blown.
I think its has got something to do with the cold weather, although it has been colder before, so i put it down to a voltage drop which caused a surge.:(

It is a bit bizarre, luckily I found it very easy to change the bulbs over, and now have some Phillips xtreme power, but got a spare set ready for it to happen again!

check the voltage when the engine is running at idle and at higher rpm.... could be over charging??

had the same thing happen to me, driving back from work after doin nights had both bulbs blow at the same time. Thought it had to be a fuse but they are on seperate circuits so 2 different fuses. Anyways changed the bulbs and both are working again. WEIRD!!! chances of both blowing at the same time a bit weird but i suppose it could.
