for the past week i have been noticing that when returning home from work late at night for the first 5 mins or so when i change gear and lift foot of clutch my lights dim for a split second , this only seems to happen for about 5 mins of running after that seems fine ..

may own theroy was maybe , when starting the car after being stood for 9 hours its draining something ????

can anyone shread any light on this problem :blink:

dont know how to solve it
but when driving at night if i open windows or use any switch ALOT then they dim each time
even when i come to a stop and the fans kick on for a few seconds

Could be any number of things unfortunately...

Could simply be your engine electrical wiring has seen better days, so changing earth leads and mounting points may cure it.
Could also be a sign that your alternator is faulty... or possibly the wiring between the alternator, battery and any earth points.
Could be a battery problem.
Could be something is causing excessive drain on your charging system (do you have a big ICE install?)

The first thing I'd try is new wiring. New earth leads, new wiring between battery and alternator, as well as any earth leads for the alternator itself. Make sure the mounting points for each look healthy and if there is any sign of rust or general nastiness, find a new point.

Mine's done it from day dot. Turn on CC, open close windows, run the stereo loud. Whatever draws current etc.
