Hi, i've just bought a 03 210bhp LCR and just found that the floor behind the front passenger seat is soaking, was hoping someone on here knows where the usual places these leak water from ?

It's a seal inside the front door. It allows water to build up on the sideskirt and over flow into the footwell.

There is a large silver metal plate which is sealed against the door with some lame foam-like sealant that perishes over time. It's a common fault on all cars made on the MKIV Golf Chassis. Take the interior panel off and you'll see the plate, have a look around it and it should be evident where the seal has gone. Losen the top bolts and remove the bottom ones (do this as you don't want to take the panel off and have to deal with refitting the window) and then reseal with silicone sealant or the proper VW stuff that you can get from a dealership.

Mine perished in a small section on the bottom so I resealed the whole bottom edge to prevent it happening again when more of the foam disappears.

Yeah I had a soaking rear footwell on the driver side. As JamJAy sudggested I applied silicon liberally between the plate and door. Thought it was sorted but once it rained came back to find water still seeping onto the door sill.

Eventually I stood with a hose on the drivers window for about 10 mins only to find that water was getting in between the door lock and the metal of the door, so siliconed that. Not pretty, but effective.

I don't think water getting in like this had been metioned on any other thread so there's a new one for you all!

I have water in the front on the floor of the driver's side, but left hand drive. I do not think it's the door, VW had it in twice. there is also no sun roof to consider. the garage now suggests to take the dash board and the heater parts out (for only £430) in order to establish where the water comes from..... any ideas? They apparently sealed 'everything' the last time the car was at VW, it lasted about two weeks before the water was back. This suggests to me that the water collects somewhere before bursting in again, or what do you guys think?
Also, the light of the indicator in the wing mirror has gone, the bulb costs £2, I overheard on the phone when the lady form VW inquired, but they would like £50 for doing it. is there a way of doing it myself and where would I get the right bulb?
