Leon PHEV Octopus intelligent go

Hi,

I used to be on octopus tracker and just charged the car anytime of day but with the cost increasing I've now moved to their intelligent go (always cheap rate between 23:30-5:30am but with the option of cheaper rates on the day and night). I had been running smoothly most of the time but there's been a few issues lately that I'm talking to Octopus about.

First it was octopus not telling the car to stop charging so it would charge at peak rate.

This time it's the car being plugged in for a long time before it's starts charging. Last night we plugged the car in at 7pm with a charge level of 65%. Octopus gave a schedule of 1:30am - 4am.
When I woke in the morning the charge level was the same and in the app it said "battery not ready". I tried turning the plug off on the wall (smart plug) and it didn't do anything. I had to remove the type 2 and re-insert it before the car charge. Octopus then gave another charging schedule of 2hrs which it continued to charge.

Has anybody else had this issue or found a work around for it?

The reason I would like to stay on Octopus intelligent go, is the cheaper p/kwh and it also helps the cost in the mornings (electric shower and breakfast)

Apologies for the wall of text.

Hi,

I did also experience similar issues like you have described and ended up turning off the smart control and have since used the cars own inbuilt schedule to only charge during the off peak hours. Not had an issue since.

I understand your tariff is Octopus Intelligent Go (I'm on the same tariff) but what charger do you have? I'm using an Ohme ePod and have had no issues thus far with it ensuring the car is topped up during the off-peak 23:30 to 05:30 hours only. As I understand it, the actual time of the charge may vary (perhaps due to grid balancing) but as long as the 'ready by' time in the app is set to a time when you need it 100% charged by, it's good and has free reign as to when to charge it during those off-peak hours.

So it turns out that Enode that talks between SEAT app and octopus has been down since I've had the issues above.

I just use the granny charger because the cars max charge rate is 3.6kw so I don't see the point of installing a charger.

It still works as above just octopus talk to the car. Hopefully Enode sort the issue out asap and I can carry on as before.

I am with Octopus and on the same tariff. Zappi is my charging point, and MyEnergy is the app I use. I can schedule when I want to charge, and as far as I know, I decide when and for how long I want to charge the car, not the Octopus app. I mean, MyEnergy and the Octopus app communicate with each other, and Octopus tells me when it's cheaper than £0.07 per kWh, which is usually around £0.06 or something. As far as I know, there is a very minimal difference between the charging rate from 23:30 to 05:30 and what the Octopus app advises. I mean octopus will give you he time but does not mean it will charge your car automatically because it says 01:30 to 04:00 as far as I know you schedule when to charge it.
