That is a nice vid. Hopefully the cars will be of something then as long as they are built to same standard as the test vehicles lol.

And no dsg 185bhp one yet either, would be nice to see how that effects 0-60. Is there any solid confirmation that they are doing a faster derv than this yet?

Pretty sure the MK2's most powerful launch model was the TFSI 180 Sport (not in FR trim).

Scott

Yes, just seems odd most powerful FR is a diesel. I guess as it's now a trim level they need to hold back the GTI equivalent engine for the Cupra.

Very Ibiza looking. Wonder what the front will be like.
I quite like it.

I've heard October time for the new leon

The all-new Leon opens for ordering on 1 October, and will be available in SLi from November for Dealers to place orders. The first deliveries will arrive in March 2013.

So if we expect a Cupra in 2014, how long do we think it'll be before the 2.0 TSI enters the FR? I'd hate to think I'd buy the 1.8 then regret not waiting for the 2 litre lol. Depends really I'll have to see what the 1.8 is like next year.

Engines -
At the greenest end of the spectrum, the Leon 1.6 TDI 105 PS with Ecomotive Technology returns 74.3 mpg and 99 g/km*, while even the most powerful version at launch, the 2.0 TDI 184 PS FR, boasts a startling average consumption figure of 65.7 mpg, with 112 g/km CO2* – helping it to complete the 0-62 mph benchmark in a rapid 7.5 seconds.

Available with five- and six-speed manual gearboxes, as well as the highly efficient and quick-shifting seven-speed DSG twin-clutch automatic, no Leon from launch will exceed 140 g/km* CO2 emissions. In fact, every engine bar the high-performance 1.8 TSI 180 PS puts out less than 120 g/km*.

I think they'll keep a gap between FR & Cupra, it was all a bit too close at 211ps & 240ps for the Mk2 by the end.

I'd not be surprised if they don't release a 2.0 FR - the 1.8 is popular in many markets for tax breaks, it's not a big enough market in the UK to develop a car for.

Just put together a side by side comparison with the IBE concept and the MK3 five door. If you squint we're pretty much looking at the shape of the SC in the top pic. If we're not and it launches looking completely different, I'll eat my MK2.

With regards to the 2.0 TSi I think they'll hold that back for when the 3 door/coupe launches.

I imagine seeing a rough engine range of 140PS 2.0 TDi, 180PS 1.8 TSi, 185PS 2.0 TDi, 210-220PS 2.0 TSi and a 260/270PS 2.0 TSi available on the 3 door/coupe. The last of which would be the Cupra, the rest falling under FR guise and available in 5 door format.
