Leon Front Retrofit Parking Sensor Issues

Good Evening Guys,

I hope you are all keeping well. I have searched up this issue on the forum but the person who had the same issues had no replies so my hope is to get some ideas on the issue.

I recently followed @Lozzy15 how to guide on the retrofit of the front parking sensors which I must say is very very impressive and easy to follow.

I had to extend the Kufatec loom to reach but that wasnt an issue.

Having done the coding, I am left with some errors and cant for the life of me establish where I have gone wrong. Attached are the codes relating to the Instruments/ Park Assist and also the measures which show a malfunction.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Josh

The version of your (hopefully genuine) VCDS lead isn't compatible with your car. You need a newer HEX-NET lead. Cloned leads are a no-no.
Both faults are showing as intermittent, so are historic rather than active. A compatible lead would allow you to clear those faults

Thank you. This is my friends set up so I have no idea if it’s genuine or not, hopefully, like you say it is. These codes have only appeared since the install. Would clearing them properly potentially sort the issue?

Also the fault on instruments isnt showing as intermittent. Could that be where the issue lies?

Thank you

The fact they are described as intermittent means the faults are not there now, and what you're seeing is just a record of faults thrown up previously, probably before you completed coding, and therefore when the coding was incorrect. Clearing the intermittent faults "should" sort things out. I take it you have a face-lift Leon, that would explain why the lead isn't compatible and showing that a later generation lead is needed to communicate with the car. The fault not showing as intermittent does show tested since memory clear so again should clear once other historic faults are wiped

Thanks mate. The care is a 2016 pre-facelift estate which is what confused me. Which bit shows the cable isnt compatible?

I had a knock at the front and the only bumper I could find to replace came with Parking sensors where as the car didn't have them at the front prior. I thought it would be rude not to add them while they are there.

The entry saying the fault detail is only supported current generation interfaces says it's an older generation non-supportive lead that's being used. I had to update my lead when I swapped from a 2014 prefl to my current 2019 face-lift Leon. There were a lot of things the old lead saw ok on the prefl, but not on the newer model.
You would of course also get this scenario if it is a cloned or non genuine lead. Leads can be found on places like ebay for (Chinese) peanuts, but aren't genuine and can do far more harm to your car than you might imagine
Where abouts are you based? If you're reasonably local to me I'd be happy to have a look

Thank you so much for the information. Very interesting. I will firstly confirm that the lead is genuine and if not look for someone local that can clear those codes for me and hope we have success. Cheers Leyland.

I'd be surprised if the "Net" bit/option is needed, HEX-V2 should be enough, but as said, it's a bit strange that he hasn't updated to the latest version of VCDS!

To update a clone you have to invest a lot of time the first time to understand it, or have a really good manual.

HEX-V2 is enough

Thanks Cairus. Do you think if I had access a genuine copy, I could clear the codes and be on my way?

Hex-Net - Wireless option
Hex-V2 - Non-wireless

Both will work with later UDS cars. A clone lead is not advised or recommended.
