how much that set up cost ya m8, i was refering to 312'a with same calipers are the 312s wider or just bigger in diameter

cheers

All in about 480quid - half the price of Cupra R Brembos :D
I believe the 312's are bigger diameter due to the different carriers, these take the calipers further out from the centre of the hub.

Thank you very much for the pictures. It sets my mind at rest and shows that the OE wheels can stay with spacers. I assume that they are 10mm each side (total track 20mm).

Those discs and calipers look like they've literally just been put on.

OK its a cracking day here so cast your peepers over these:

Those calipers/pads don't seem to cover the whole face of the disk ?
The inner half inch or so of disk looks like it's unused.

Perhaps the Porsche calipers were originally designed for larger diameter disks, where the disk friction area might have been narrower - but spaced further from the centre of the wheel

Maybe. From what I can think though its the fact the calipers are further away from the centre of rotation that makes then grip better, not a bigger area of contact. This can be seen by the fact the 288mm setup uses the same calipers and pads as the 312mm.

So far I've seen most difference in them been able to bite easier at motorway speeds.

Oh I agree fully - larger radius is the name of the game, was just commenting on the fact the caliper/disk combo doesn't quite look right....

EDIT:....at least not to my geeky eyes anyway :)

That's how they sit Lee - mine were the same - it just means the disks run cooler although the braking performance is massively increased over standard but the cost of the disks isn't :)

Hi Ben, I bought the calipers & discs off ebay, the pads from Badger5 on here, the carriers & hoses from a guy on vw forum site and the spacers from AwesomeGTI.
Hope this answers your Q's and keeps you busy for the time being..........you wont regret it :D
