Only in warranty will it be fixed for free.
A TPI doesn't work like a safety recall.

No indeed. I assumed warranty.
So if you've got your ECU remapped and there's a TPI for engine-related work.....get ready for a fight or to be blatantly told to nick off.

A TPI (Technical product instruction I think it is) is a document released by VAG regarding problems and fixes to cars that they manufacture. All dealership service centre staff have access to them.

Thanks for the reply Marshall,

Mine is standard with 84,000 on the clock. I have reset the ecu but that had no affect. I'm planning on changing the fuel filter at the weekend as this has been suggested as a possible cause. I'm not sure if this could be related, but a buzzing/clicking noise developed a few weeks ago, although this is only noticeable with the window down so it may just be that i never noticed it before. I believe this is the fuel pump, and Seat have now made it a 'characteristic' rather than a fault. I'll change this too probably because it drives me mad.

I'll inspect all of the turbo hoses too, i'm hoping it is something simple like that.

Hey I know this is an old thread but I'm hoping neilpaul will get a notification and see this message. Did you ever get your problem fixed and how?

I have a PO299 code - loss of boost
Also getting the buzzing clicking noise only noticeable when window down

Mine is a 2010 Leon fr cr with 84k on clock too.

Mine makes that buzz/clicking too. I was told its normal

Hi, that buzz/clicking noise is made from 0-5000 rpm or you only hear it at a specified rpm?

Recently on mine 170cr 2010/07 i notice a buzz sound coming from the passenger side of the dash, like when a spring is stretching, only hear it at 2500 rpm.
I think it's from the turbo actuator :(

Maybe that's the reason I'm getting the PO299 error, the actuator could be causing the lack of turbo and noise..

The loss in power was caused by a faulty turbo actuator, but i still live with the buzzing every damn day [:@]

I believe it's just a noisy fuel pump, common on this engine.

Cheers

It's fuel pump making the noise. Easily heard when the drivers window is down
