Going to be bigger intercooler, bigger turbo, uprated exhaust .... that type of thing really, then when you start doing that, you need to look at uprated fuel pump as well as uprated internals ..

The next step is the expensive step, which would be best to go for first though i don't know, no doubt others will be along to help out ... or pop into the tuning section and see what they say :)

many thanks, for the info,

its just that the seat salesman briefly mentioned that you could take it up to 300hp no prob's? so im assuming there must be a cheaper way, or am i assuming wrong?

Lesson 1 learnt, never trust a seat saleman ;)

The FR will 'chip' from the 198 to around 250*
The Cupra will 'chip' from 240 to around 300*
The Cupra has a different turbo than the FR, hence the additional power.

*depending on choice of tuners

the FR TFSI will never reach 300hp unless the turbo is upgraded which costs over 3-4 grand, plus other mods like exhaust and intercooler.

Well said..........;)...........don't ever believe a car salesman......The only way you will get to the 300 whp figure is by digging deep..:headhurt: or sleeping with your bank manager.....

If you want big power (300bhp) the most cost effective way to get it is to part ex for a Cupra that will reach around 300bhp with just a remap, the only power mods that are worth considering for the FR TFSI are the remap and air filter (240 -260 bhp depending on which ones you go for) if you want to go beyond that you are into Cupra money.

Buying a Cupra would be the most cost effective solution.

Would have been a lot cheaper to buy the Cupra in the first place if you wanted 300+ bhp. A simple stage 1 remap costing £450 will take you to 320bhp & 440nm torque. The cupra already has the uprated brakes, bigger turbo, bigger intectors, uprated pistons & con rods and a braced block as well as some lighter front wishbones. Will cost you a fortune just to meed the cupra spec engine & brakes.

Wouldn't get DSG though ... which might be an issue tuning any higher than you already have done to be honest.

Have a go in a chipped Cupra, you will find you would select a different gear to the DSG & use the torque better, I think the DSG would put you in the wrong gear and waste power on the Public road, DSG would be good on the track though with very sticky tyres. Woul also be good with 4WD on the road, but we are talking about FWD car here.

My personal preference swayed towards the fr dsg, because of the gearbox. so i think 240hp is plenty quick enough for a hot hatch. ;)
