Hi

Im in some confusion now, ive been 100% in favour of getting a 02/03 Cupra since driving one a while back, but my money situation has changed a bit, so now im looking at £6,500 to £7,000, this looks like it will get me a high mileage Cupra (i want the MK2 version only) sort of 70/90,000mls mark, which isnt too bad i guess, but a friends just got an 2003 Octavia vRS for £6,800 with 55,000mls, and although ive not had the chance to drive it, its looks great and he sez goes aswell as the Cupra.

This got me thinking:confused:, ive done some reading on the vRS and its had alot of good reviews by the owners (one site being www . reviewcentre . com), and i can live with the badge, so i can afford a good one of these for the same money as the Cupra.

What im asking is, has anyone driven both, and what are your thoughts on the car as personally im not sure:help:.

Cheers

Gav

go for it
i tested a leon on a Y plate, leather seats had gone at the bolsters, the door handles were pealing too, octavia felt as well screwed togather(i've since found a few minor vibrations in the trim)goes as well,a rear anti roll bar upgrade helps no end in the handling stakes.and we've just shipped a kids bed from the in laws to ours with the seats down and could still shut the boot .
the seats and carpet are a bloody mare to keep clean.
have you thought of the 4x4? doesn't look as good as the vrs imho but supposed to handle very well indeed, and will chip up to the same220 ish bhp.
edit: paid 7300 for a vrs on 37000 miles with fsh, they are going for peanuts now

Not keen on the 4x4, doesnt look as good IMHO.

fluffy01016, would do, but i have a BMW to px, so no joy unless you want a 325 on a 1993 plate to go with the Superb!!!! thought not hehe, ps totally agree, why pay more for the same, pps, cool pic, best films ever back to the future :)

the money i had would only have bought me an early cupra(nearly two years ago now ),pre face lift, brembo's and 18's would be nice, but now i have just thought of shoeing the beast and the novelty is wearing off :)

and the badge is not hard to hide ;)

The Octavia VRS is a brialliant car, depends on what your after the car for. As a business user, I had the old L& K with 150BHP but never got the chance to try the VRS. When It came up for renewal. the offering on the Octavia was very poor and I complained to Skoda. If the new VRS was available back in March I would have had one, but as the Cupra was based on the same platform as the VRS I went the SEAT route.

jason, your vRS looks good, is that the std grill debadged?

im currently on briskoda, asked the same question on there, i expected the vRS to get slated on here, so wanted both points of view, however, im suprised it didnt :)

I know what you mean about the 18" on a leon, if i get one, it will be black with LCR wheels, but that will push the total cost to nearer £8,000 or so, and thats alot as personally the Cupra needs 18's, however the octavia although 17's still looks good as standard, so could spend my money on handling and a chip instead :)
