Yum, can't wait to hear it at the southern meet!

If I'd have had the choice I'd probably gone for a piper, but since my car came with a milltek I can't really complain. Good work though, nice to see someone doing all the hard work themselves, it's so satisfying.

Nice work, im really fond of silver LCR's. Well done for posting the AMD remap graph. I will be getting one next month and i was really curious to see standard(ish) V AMD remap.

Keep up the good work.

Cheers guys although im not entirely sure on the tip  as soon as the girlfriend saw it she said "that looks weird" which confirmed my doubts il see how it goes im hoping it will soot up the inner part or maybe il paint it black.

Opinions on the sound have changed a little since i first got it as it is a tad chav/boomy when you have all the windows open and low acceleration level. At standstill its the same as the original burble but a tiny bit louder. Round town I never used to hear the noise from within the car and the DV woosh was more noticeable but now I can hear both without being too loud but does sound a little boomy when revs are low. Cruising with no acceleration is near dead silent like the orignal which is great and just what you want for the motorway. The boomy sound definitel goes away under hard acceleration when it really sounds quite nice its hard to describe but it does have a slight jet fighter sound as the turbo spools. Il try and get some clips up to explain the words soon.

To sum up im a little unsure as the tip doesnt fit in with the OEM plan but on a blast it really makes up for it and you really dont spend much time looking at the exterior. Round town i do get the feeling people look at is as a bit chav but as sound echos around its hard to tell how other people hear it so i might have to let my dad have a drive so i can hear it.

Hi, just a mini update on some caps ive sprayed up. The stock wheel covers rubbed down, filler primed and painted satin black. Then onto the engine bay with some ideas from when i saw Emdee's car. I did the coolant and washer bottle cap in the same satin black with the mango detail like on the oil cap. Wheel caps came out just how i wanted as it was back when it was sunny but engine caps didnt come out quite so well as i lost my patience with them so they might get redone when i do the power steering cap.

Finally decided to take notice of my MOT advisory sheet and get some bits sorted out. New parts i need are the front top mounts and front wisbone bushes. Next up while the suspension was coming out anyway I thought id go with a fresh new kit. Ive gone for the Weitec spring and damper kit with a 30mm drop as i really dont want anything too far from standard and i want to fit it and be done with it, no messing about like collies on the other car. I was fully prepared to do this myself with the use of my mates press for the bushes but after I got a really reasonable quote from AMD after my remap I thought i would save myself the scared knuckles and being freezing cold or wet in the process.

I dropped the car off about 11 and decided to spend the afternoon christmas shopping with my GF which wasnt cheap! coming up to 4 i got the call, it was sorted. I walked upto AMD and inbetween the R32s, TT and another Leon I saw the my car which to me was noticeablly lower than before, hell even my GF picked up on this so i paid up and took it out onto the road. Didnt get off to a great start as soon as you get out the industrial estate there are some mammoth individual speed humps. My usual trick of going up one side of the hump resulted in a scrape from the splitter and then something else either metal or undertray. Jumped out to check and i think its just the undertray which was a sigh of relief so for the rest i just took it a lot more cautiously. Once on some real road i was really impressed; roll is reduced a fair amount, i dont crash over humps and the damping is much quicker to react than the old worn dampers. I can marginally feel more of a bumpy road surface if im concentrating and i will still avoid the big man holes but overall it is a really comfortable smooth ride which was what i aimed to keep. Therefore I would definitely recommend the kit to others and the services of AMD Essex - Am i starting to sound like D.K :p

Pics to follow.

Well that 30mm i think is based on the cupra so in total will be a staggering 15mm lol if what ive heard is correct but im not doing it for the big drop. Bit more driving this evening around where i live and havent hit another speed bump since the ones around AMD which is a relief. Busy day tomorrow with new suspension for the kit car but I will definitely find some time for photos of the Leon.

Lowered Pics

Bit of a nasty day out but I managed to get some pics and measurements. Its not entirely accurate but before and after i parked in the same place and took the pictures and then measuring from top of the arch to top of the alloy with a pendulum here is how its changed;

Front Drivers Before - 11.8cm, After - 9.6cm
Front Passengers Before 11.4cm, After - 9.4cm
Rear Drivers Before - 11.4cm, After - 9.4cm
Rear Passengers Before - 11.4cm, After - 9.4cm

Sounds greater than the 15mm i was expecting but this may be down to the worn top mounts. Unsure about the front drivers side being higher maybe just down to road camber.

Now what are possibly the most boring photos of all time with the terrible wet weather

Im really happy with the difference as although there is still a gap when looking crouching you dont see it when standing. One thing i think that is highlighted in the shots is that i now need spacers. Unsure what to go for and if i want a small increase on the front or not along with 10mm at the back as i dont want to upset the handling balance. If youve got any recommendations let me know.

its suprising just how high the standard LCR suspension actually is...i have 15mm rear spacers, and i also have a rear strut brace too and my car is absolutely planted...its not down to these two mods, its down to the KW variant 3s but the above mods compliment the car so well

cheers for the comments and it is just how i wanted it sharper, less crashy and with a subtle drop. The pics do make it look high but in reality probably as low as seat could make an every day all be it rather fast road car - how low do you wind the KWs down to out of interest? At the moment im liking the idea of spacers but probably wont happen for a while as for what is a really subtle mod its pricey if i wanted to balance it out with a slight increase on the front.

As for price i think it was £315 and half price fitting with allignment which made it a really good deal and worth me not wasting my time on it as im sure i would have been at it most the day and would still have wanted to get allignent done

Mines just about 2cm drop although i wonder if my original measurement before the swap was close to how seat intended when it left the factory.

Just a few more pics as when i changed the tyres i had a look around and noticed the springs were yellow. If anyone has ever looked into this kit its usually black dampers and green springs. When at AmD for the final alignment check I thought Id ask Brad and apparently the whole KW family (AP, KW & Weitec) are coming out like this now.

Alignment had to wait till this week as my tyres were very low and Shaun thought this may affect the final setup. Finally reminded me i never fitted my Goodyear Asymetrics which is terrible considering ive had them over 6 months. On the tyre front i have to say they make a fair bit of grumbly tyre noise over the Pirelli's. As for the important part I dont really see the flickering TCS light at all in 3rd and when ESP is off you do get wheel spin but grip is ultimately better and understeer is reduced.

That leaves me pretty happy with the car right now other than the piper exhaust rusting literally as soon as its been polished [:@] There may be a silver lining though in that i can change the tip design to one without the inner tip.
