I really can't see what the problem is with regards fitting if you take your time, I managed to fit mine without cutting outside the lines of the coinholder, so there is no visible gaps. My entire centre console is leather as well which meant I had to be extra careful where I was cutting. It doesn't rattle, and the three location points for the bracket were easy enough to access (never heard of any snapping and requiring welding!!)
Mine is a genuine Seat leather one and cost me £130 from the main dealers.
Makes such a difference to drive it now!

I have just received an armrest from a guy in london through ebay. I have not started fitting yet but the earlier posts mention only being able to use two of the 3 mounting points. Is this due to the holes not lining up or the need for a special double ended bolt from VW?

You can see the bolt in question in picture no.1 - it is the black one - it seems to screw into the floor and then you attach the bracket by screwing into the top of this one.

Any ideas where I can get this one piece and not the whole set? is there a VW part no for the bolt?:help:

I have repaired the armrest last week, greased ratchet and other moving parts... and turned the inside in a nice, insulated, liquor cabinet :) pictures soon

Completed the fitting of the armrest bought on ebay

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VW-Golf-Mk4-B...oryZ9889QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Worked well but I did not remove the centre console completely and therefore I made the job alot harder when fitting the bolts!!:doh:

I cut the straight edges using a dremel cutting disk and just used the stanley knife for the 4 corners.

Using the adapter bolt from VW (Part No.1J0711354V £3.28 incl. VAT) I was able to attach all 3 bolts.

Had to get a large allen key to tighten the screw fixing the armrest to the mount but apart from that no extra cost.

Very pleased with the finished result - material fits in well with my standard cupra seats.:coolthumb

I quoted part number 1J0711354V when I ordered the part but when I checked my receipt from VW it shows WHT 001 759.

Same part but with two different reference numbers - at least they knew what it was and got the correct part anyway.

As far a a simpler way to fit it - buy a genuine part and get your dealer to fit it. I cannot see another option.
