Does anyone know exactly how the alarm works on the Leon, specifically LCR, and what should set it off?

Some [:@] TW4T [:@] drove into the back of my, parked and locked, pride and joy. The first I noticed was when someone started screaming. I ran outside to find the back smashed up, and the other car driving away. At no point did the alarm go off ??

Off my own topick; Whats worse, I went to the police to report it. Took my insurance and card license. Was told I can't report it without the paper license. Had to go back with that, filled in a form, explained everything all over again. Was then told my report would be "filed". Traffic accidents with no injury do not go on their "Incident register". If I want a CAD number for the insurace I need to phone the police and report it (This was the BIB behind the desk telling what to do :-o )

Oh well, off to Coupers for a new bumper. I'll take some Vaseline to be safe.

Bloody hell, fantastic. Coupers just quoted me £290 for the bumper + £300 for re-spray and fitting.

I'll probably buy one today. Hate looking at the back now. Already been out twice to check how bad it is.

Thanks for the link.

Is that a genuine LCR rear bumper, or a copy?

(edit) Just answered my own question... if you look on the right hand side of the auction page it says that all parts are GRP (fibre glass!) and you should check fitment before spraying. So basically, they are copies. Therefore don't expect a good fitment and don't compare that price to the price of an original, Seat replacement. Also if somebody hits you from behind when you have a fibre glass bumper, it will crack and shatter very easily!

Just thought I'd mention that :)

Just been out to check the also. Got a bit excited by the price.

The last ebay review was bad, yea I know it's only 1 bad review, still makes me wonder. At least with Seat I can refuse to pay unless ABSOLUTELY perfect.

I wanna cry. Think I'll start keying every sliver L reg Cavalier from now on (not really)

I don't think the leon has an impact sensor which is why it wouldn't of gone off.

boot, bonnet, doors opened will set it off as will interior movement. hope i'm right.

my Leon alarm needs a bomb to go off before it starts. Last week i had to drill out some old locking wheel nuts (due to the last owner losing the key!). After a considerable length of time and much swearing, I resorted to using a hammer and chisel and smacking the nuts off with the chisel ( not the most subtle of ways, but its works). After taking 3 of them off i set about the last 1. After about 10 mins of hammering, an alarm went off . . . oh wait! thats my car! i dunno how it set off due to the lack of a impact sensor but it didnt really fill me with confidence.

Don't know if the lc or lcr have an impact sensor tbh...

But i set my alarm off yesterday with a pressure washer directed at the front screen, so it is poss i guess.....

also chances are the interior volunmetric sensors arn't activated, found this on my lc, worth looking into..

My alarm goes of if other loud cars go past??? some must be more sensitive than others. However on the right hand side of your drivers seat there is a little button iv been told turns your interior sensors on and off.

My understanding from my old MK4 Gooof Gti and Audi A4 Cabriolet is that the dealers can alter the internal sensitivity and volume of the siren.

I don't think the Leon has shock sensors on the outside or anti-tow away etc.
