Leon 20VT Badging

Hi all,

I've had my 2001 Leon 20VT Sport for less that a week now and I'm loving it so far. However the previous owner had added a Cupra badge to the back. I wasn't too bothered about it until I noticed that it was in the wrong position so I took it off today.

For those who don't know the 20VT Sport and the Cupra are identical in every way barring leather seats, autodimming rear view mirror and possibly a 6 cd autochanger (mine has this anyway). So it's 'almost' a Cupra and hence my dilemma. Should I....

1) Stick on the Cupra badge in the correct position. It looks quite cool and lets people know that it's a sporting model with something decent for an engine rather than the run of the mill.

2) Leave it off with just the original 20VT badging. It's not a Cupra after all and is more suttle.

I can't decide

It is currently identical to this, bar the registration plate of course.

Sowing seeds in my head there. If I had the new style body kit on then possibly (I saw the previous thread on that), can't really be bothered with the pain of doing that though.

My mum will start to wonder why I keep going round to her house to borrow her hair dryer :cartman:

So it's basically Cupra on or Cupra off?

Maybe I'm wrong then. My spec sounds similair to yours. Mine is definately a 'Sport' though.

Ahhhh...

"20VT CUPRA MODELS:
Originally this was a high spec'ed model with ESP, leather seats, RDS display in dash, rain sensing wipers etc but was discontinued in 2001 when the 20VT SPORT was then sold as the Cupra"

from... http://www.seatcupra.net/users/andyb/leonFAQ.htm

So if I'm reading this correctly, during 2001 the 20VT Sport like mine was renamed as the Cupra and the higher spec Cupra was dropped.

I think my Leon may deserve a Cupra badge after all then

I love the stuff.

I'll need to try getting the new Irn Bru 32 injected into my engine Nitros Oxide style for extra performance

Thanks all. It's nice to have some friendly replies. I was fearing a backlash at the suggestion I had.

Ok job done. My Sport is now badged Cupra, which makes sense I guess since it basically is.

I considered the debaged sleeper look but it would be wasted. It's good if you're using it to 'fool' people in other cars into racing you and then blowing their doors off but unfortunately I have a healthy collection of points on my license  so I'm behaving myself just now.
