Hi

I have tried numerous leds on my old leon mk2 and found nothing that lasts as a normal bulp.
The best thing that I know of is getting a whole box from eBay cheap and just replace the led bulp when it goes sideways

Just remember you will need the leds with the canbus resistors or else it won't work or it will flicker like a police car!

I have given up a while ago and replaced the sidelight with a normal bulp but in Orange as it gives the car a more agreessive look and the same time "us light" (my own opinion) some like it some don't

Regards
Andi christiansen

And congratulations on your leon!

I've given up with LEDs.... I've tried dozens and even fitted additional resistors to the wiring....... Still get errors

I use Samsung 501 LED sidelights, never get errors with them. Though they do only tend to last 6-12 months before they start to flicker and flash.

You need to add additional resistors or as someone has said they'll either not work or will flicker. Led sidelights on mine was a must as I had to match my hids I put in. Not even gunna bother stating what kelvin they are as itll turn into the biggest hate thread and probs find a brick in my living room window lol

I've found some awesome DRL LEDs that work no errors but cba in the end with the sides so stuck osram cool blue 501s in... They are not perfect but far better than standard 501 bulbs. I really want to led up the number plate lights gonna have to use resistors for that tho I think... Just figuring out the neatest way... Hate messy wiring.

I couldn't cope with just stock... I've got the OEM xenons and they look stupid with yellow stock bulbs

Really will have to check it, I read on here they were due to them being wired in parallel or something. I know the facelift cars are much more picky in general on the canbus.

Yeah for some reason the plates are fine, providing you get a decent set of course. Sometimes the rod inside the plate bulb holder needs adjusting slightly

For the number plates, the only thing worthwhile that actually works long term are the full light unit replacement, not just the 'Canbus' festoon bulbs, which will start to error and flicker at some point. You can't just use a normal LED, it still needs the additional load from resistors (either built in to the bulb, or proper external ones when buying the full replacement unit

I must have been lucky then as led plate bulbs never had a problem with. Never got ebay jobs tho, got them of a forum sponsor who makes them. My previous audi a3 they were in for two years no probs i still see the guy who bought it off me and there still going strong. Got the same ones in the leon still nice and bright with no probs.
Maybe thats the only thing i ever get any luck with :headhurt:

You using some? I've looked at the whole units too but really trying to find someone with a FL who can recommend some that work well with a link to buy ideally

Mines Pre-FL but yeah I use them. they have a proper external resistor that is large enough to create the resistance needed long term without burning out.

Have had the same problems with led side and plate bulbs. Tried various sets but with no luck. Put a set in a pug partner and bingo they work fine. Go figure
