If I remember right the interior lights are a switchable earth. Dont forget the LED lamps will only power up one way.

If this is correct, the switched earth should be blue/grey cable. The constant live should be red/black. Try + to red/black and - to blue/grey. It may not have the delay function, that could be a relay or similar actually in the light unit.

LED footwell lights = mountain to climb lol. I WILL get them done!!
They get very annoying when on the ignition tried this as a last resort. Too much light being emitted at night time driving.

Jay my car isn't a fridge!! :p

Just been playin with the lights, iv found the wires you need to switch off auto when doors shut.

My red + goes to red with black stripe (middle) and my black to the blue wire.

These are located behind the center interior lights. Just pull the case off and there you go.
Ive tried them and they defo on/off when door open/shut!

Legend! But how do you get the interior light off? Mine seems to be cemented to the roof!!

Its easyist if you take the alarm case off first, then bang down on top of lights case. Thats the best way without damaging anythin.

Iamlegend. And thats not all, when i tested it with my red leds, the light fades out on door close. No flicker nada just a nice fade. This will be a mod for the history books lol.

The wire routing should be easy, I'm routing mine from the light down the passenger pillar, behind the glove box and across the footwells. Same route as my microphone takes for my head unit.

Literally none of that made sense. I think the word "and" was in there somewhere!

The other way will be much much easier. The hardest part is taking the interior light out! Your pretty much done after that, no vagcom no removing bolts no hacking into looms!

Sorry for the sarcy. Bobdog will show us all how easy it is when he writes it up:whistle:

you´re right, it takes some time and effort, but I´d still prefer the way in DIY (it is more like factory fit) to the way in this thread, because with this "retro fit" you can get advantages of further settings via VAGcom as an adjustable brightness, dimmed light while driving and so on ... Once the car has got CAN bus, so why act like in ace age. Its worth to consider ;)

Yeah I just routed them down the drivers pillar post and behind the fuse board.

Yeah fade off nicely, and when you unlock they fade in lol, what colour did you do? I did white.
