Only if you don't haggle. So in reality, it probably is a £20k car (if that).

You get a brand new build car, it's worth whatever it's worth when it rolls off the factory line, the lease company don't then knock 5k off before flogging them out to people

Yes, but this thread compares the pros and cons of leasing. If someone were to PCP or HP or whatever they almost certainly would have £5k off. Leasing just covers a rental fee, nothing to do with the purchase price. So for comparison's sake i.e. depreciation, monthly costs etc it's important to consider the fact that they are easily purchased for ~£20k.

ive currently got a stock manual 184 leon on a lease was about 1200 down then 23 months of 190 odd based on 10k per year...

now im really happy with my fr though the 17inch alloys look so crap....

i will miss the car when i hand it hand.. im really not sure what to do next looking at the used prices you can pic up a 2 year old car so cheap compared to new price, im thinking about buying a DSG 186 or cupra...

just had a quick search on autotrader can get a low milage 65 plate for 13/14k.. its really tempting to just buy next time... i know new is new but 2 year old kinda makes sense...

While I still have many years of work to do I'm happy to rent a car.

I got rid of my corsa black edition for an FR 184 Titanium on lease, overall across the 2 years the only money I have to put in(difference between sale and lease) is £971, tax, breakdown, tires and servicing all covered and as I'm on a 15k mileage plan if I were to buy one and do those miles I'd find it very hard to get a price as high as the lease values the car at, seems like a no brainer to me

I've got a 330d on HP, almost 2 years in and it's cost me a fortune. I will never go down this route again if I can help it.

To trade it in BMW wanted £2000 to cover the negative equity, I can sell it and walk out with a £1000 hopefully.

When you add up the £3k down, the monthly payments, the servicing, tyres, tax, insurance this thing would work out to have costed £750 a month if I traded it in. Crazy!

Leasing is defo the way forward, put as little in as possible and drive new cars all the time. While I still have many years of work to do I'm happy to rent a car.

love the 330d great car...

i agree on something like a 330d which command really high used prices... but on the leons the depreciation is greater you can pick up some really good motors for cheap..(compared to list)

benefits of leasing is you dont have to think about it too much... ie if i want a lime green car i dont have to worry about resale value.

best thing about leasing is you could go for cars that you normally wouldn't as you only have it for a temporary period of time
