leaky radiator

'04 Leon tdi 110.

I've been needing to top up my coolant for a while now and couldn't work out where it was going. Finally took it into Seat and had it pressure tested. They traced it to a leak n/s bottom corner of radiator. They quoted £456 to replace as they said it involves taking a good part of the front end off to get at it! Anyone confirm this or have any other solutions? Has rad weld got any better these days?

There is not a haynes, but should not be too had, take your time when taking apart, maybe take some pics as you strip the front so you can remember how it goes back!
there are guides on bumper removal, just do a search!

As far as I know they haven't done a haynes manual yet. Think I read the Golf one was pretty close but guess that's for mechanics and not so much for bodywork? Anyone know part number for genuine rad as I may well have a go to save some cash? Are there any decent none genuine ones anyone knows about? And is there any other jobs worth doing whilst the bumbers removed?

I have found out the bumper needs to come off but have since had a quote for £95 fully fitted. Not a genuine Seat radiator but for a £350 saving I think I can live with that!
