Mate of mine has got one (DSG version) for a week or so (selling it on) and managed to bump into him the other night briefly.. So thought it would be rude not to have a closer inspection.. Had a drive of it and have to say it's a gorgeous motor. Handles really well (for something that weighs more than the houses of parliment). Very linear power, with no noticable kick at any point through the rev range, but certainly cracks on..
The interior is very lush and it has the £2300 Recaro's in it too, which are proper sex wee.. When I got back in mine, the dash looked like it was out of a 1970's Datsun in comparison.. :(
But the best thing about it, is it has a Full Miltek on it and the sound of it.....
Anyway after I had finished having a butchers round it, he followed me home.. :cheeky: Now with him all over my back bumber, asking for trouble :D , I hit the loud pedal and although he was slipstreaming me as much as he could, I still managed to ease a good 6-7 car lengths or so from about 30 - *** bananas.. So fairly happy.. Think I would of made a few more feet if we'd been along side each other, but hey ho..
All in all though a lovely motor that I certainly wouldn't say no to.. But at 29 big fat ones, I think i'll pass for now..

Ha.. Funny you should say that.. Spoke to him today and he reckons over the weekend, he's put all the profit he had in it, through the bloody petrol tank near enough.. Ha ha..

I do like these new R32's.

Is it 260bhp? These 4wd or FWD Ben?

Only ever come across the Mk 1V R32:)

Yeah 247bhp with 4wd and weigh about 1515kgs.. There's a rumour that they're bringing out a more powerfull, less weight version soon.. That'll be worth a look at..

I actually made the jump from a LCR to the R32 that you mention with DSG and the Recaro seats. I loved my LCR but after 80K miles I wated a change and didn't like the new Cupra that was coming along.

Both cars are great in there own way, in fact the LCR still feels faster but the V6 coupled with DSG is ultra smooth so there is no senasation of acceleration, just the speedo goes up quickly. Also, with the 4WD there is no issue putting the power down, I don't think I've seen the ESP light on at all whereas the LCR it was coming on all the time especially in the wet.

For the fun factor the LCR wins but as a high speed mile cruncher the R32 wins especially in the wet

The DSG gearbox is fantastic and I would recommend everyone have a shot although beware you do need to modify your driving style,

the R32 is a very decent car, grippy and the exhaust note is fantastic. However its only a stones throw in cash money terms from an Audi S3, and when you spec the R32 its nearly £30k. OK so the S3 is a 2.0T, and then a few quid more, but ultimately its just not quick enough.

With the 3.6 unit being available in the US I think dealers and customers alike were disappointed that they elected to use the 3.2 as although it has FSi technology, it still has a drink problem and does not deliver the performance to match the thirst. When you consider the M3's straight 6 engine delivers 343bhp, 250PS is pretty lame by comparison.

I appreciate its not a bad platform to work with, but modding is costly and you don't realise the benefits that are available from a blown motor.

The dash is far on from the LCR's 'old skool' dash, but even the VW one is not what it should be for the price.

vw's v6 lumps have never been impressive if your looking at power figures, take a look at the mk3 vr6 2.8 with 180bhp not a lot when u think mazda put a 1.8 v6 in a mx3 with 140bhp.
before the r32 was launched i heard it was gonna be a r34 so i doubt they would launch a r36 when mk6 is not far away

But then compare that further to the Jap's and it looks even worse. Toyota can do 190bhp from a N/A 1.8 4pot. Kinda makes 180 from a 2.8 VR6 look pathetic.
